Hi.. This is slightly off topic.. I had terrible problems trying to optimize my picture for upload to gallery, and I wondered if there was a program, or a util that could make the picture and the thumbnail the correct size?

i think there is an option to "save for web" in photoshop, which i think allows you to save it to a specific size. But i tend to use photoshop to save the initial image(final version) and then open a different paint program to save that image for the upload,

saved(100% jpeg) image is roughly say 800kb in photoshop, open another paint program, open that saved image, then goto "save as"( i put this new save in my rendo upload folder) and save at say 98%, then click save again(to see if it is small enough) if not then i will save over that at about 95% or whatever!! that way you only end up reducing the image once, as all subsiquente saves are just specifing reduction from that original 800kb image.

hope that makes sense, remember to be under the 512kb for image and under 15kb for thumb to be sure they will upload, if you are exactly 512kb and 15kb they probally won't upload. 

Under the new gallery system the thumb will be made for you automatically if you leave that space blank!

it might also be useful if they add a button in poser 7 that, once clicked, will compose a scene (with vickie, sword and temple), render it, save as jpeg of correct size, and upload to gallery here. that way we can continya to update our galleries even while on holiday :lol:

Here is how I do it in Paint Shop Pro.  If you have Photoshop you use "Save to Web" feature.

I usually pick the file size that gives me the maximum amount of compression without loss of image quality.  So it's important to keep your eye on that little window.

Try Bitmap shrinker - a dashed handy piece of shareware.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

I just use ACDSee.  It has a crop and a resize tool.  I have it anyway to use to view
jpeg files.  So I just click on the file I want to view,  right click on the border, and
it brings up a tool menu, with crop and resize being two of the tools.  Then I
just save the file as picture.tmb.jpg.
