tresamie and I tied on the Summer challenge so we got to choose the challenge for September.  We both liked the idea of the Colors of Autumn, and we hope you all do too.

2D, 3D, photographs, prose/poetry--there's no limitations other than your imagination (and the usual Renderosity rules).  Post your creation on this thread. Everyone in the community is welcome to join in.  Winner gets to choose the next month's theme.

Have fun!!

I happily saw your thread in the Photoshop Forum and thought I would post an image.  I had just started this image, so it was a very timely theme you chose.

Well, I just made my move and finally have a computer to work with.  And it just so happens that I just finished a piece two days ago that fit's this theme!  It's great to be rendering again (I was going into withdrawl......)

Here's my entry.  Good Luck all!

Very nice.My turn.  I've never seen a full fledged turning of the leaves. Southern California trees, most of them, don't change colore.

SndCastie posted Sun, 17 September 2006 at 6:20 PM

yea that is what I missed when I lived in Ontario Ca for 14 years I was born here in Ohio and I love the trees changing colors. They are starting already and it isn't even Oct. yet.

Quote - what are the rules? only one picture each?  must they be made especially for this challenge? must they be new? new here.

We prefer that the images are made specifically for the challenge - kind of the point, to challenge yourself to meet the theme. 😄

As for the number of entries - you can enter as often as you like, but when it comes to voting, we ask that each person vote for the image - not the artist. So, you might actually wind up being your own worst competition. There have been a number of times where someone has come in third and fifth places. Had they done one image, they might have come in first.

However, it isn’t winning that I count as the main objective. Learning and pushing yourself to create new images and inspired works is the real challenge and benefit of the forum. If you’ve entered, you’re already a winner in my book. There is the honor of being able to set the theme for the following month’s challenge though, that’s kind of cool. See what everyone else does with your concept or idea.

koosievantutte posted Sat, 23 September 2006 at 1:47 AM

as autumn is my favourite season i love to see all these interpretations. some time ago i made a little 'graphic poem' and i know i deminish my chances but i actually don't care if i win, i post it here anyway as it means that there is also something in the 'writing' department.

Awesome turn out... and one that is going to be really hard to vote on.

But... vote we shall... and speaking of which. Voting is now open. Please select your top Three images and vote for them in order of Preference (1st fav, 2nd fav, etc.).

From this I'll combine the scores up (3 points for 1st choice, 2 points for 2nd, etc) and the image with the highest number of points get to select the theme for next months challenge. Voting closes Friday night - and the winner will be announced on Saturday.

Good luck to you all!!!

koosievantutte posted Mon, 25 September 2006 at 3:24 PM

it's very difficult to choose the three 'best' - they are all great in their own way, so i decided to make my choice according to the (in my opinion) most realistic autumn colours.

  1. gunsan (2nd entry) - 2. moonfire - 3. valouchufy

Wow!  Lots of amazing entries this month.  This is great after such a slow summer.  It made it awfully hard to pick just 3, but I will try:

1.  Kansas - Lovely swirls of autumnal color

2.  chohole - Terrific autumn fairy

3.  dialyn - Wonderful, vibrant trees in full color

Great job everyone!

Fractals will always amaze me!

RimRunner posted Tue, 03 October 2006 at 7:17 AM

As always, the voting for the challenge has been close the whole way. With so many awesome interpretations of the theme, it’s really a hard choice to actually choose a favorite.

I’ve said before that you’re all winners – you entered, you reached and you delivered something inspiring to others.

Now that the sucking up is done. 😉  on to the count-down:

Tied for 5th place, with 1 point each:

valouchufy

ARTWITHIN

dialyn

koosievantutte

Tied for 4th place, with 2 points each:

0_moonfire_0

babuci

SandCastie

Chohole

Tied for 3rd place, with 3 points each:

Gunsan (entry #1)

Vikinglady

In 2nd place, with 5 points:

Gunsan (entry #2)

and finally, in 1st place, with 7 points:

Kansas

Congratulations Kansas. Please start a new thread with the theme for October.

And great theme for October too.  It will be fun to see what everyone comes up with.
