I have a trial version but I don't have a lot of the platns. How many trees come with the full version? I'm looking for some kind of conifer. Is there anywhere I find more trees to use in Vue?

I do believe that the one's you see but can't access in the demo all come with Vue and additionally, I think extra libraries can be purchased but I'm not certain on that.

While Vue comes with one conifer, there are several that can be purchased at the Store at www.Cornucopia3D. Many other Solid Growth plants are for sale there as well.

Check in free stuff and you will find a beautiful Blue Spruce by forester and a lovely Conifer by thomaskrahn.

schlipster,
In addition there are a number of plant modellers out there which all produce product that can[so I've heard]be imported into Vue. Although they are not solid growth vue native, they apparently, when imported as .3ds objects, keep their textures. The apps I've heard about most often are Onyx which comes in various modules which might be available seperately I haven't checked, and X-FROG, which from what I've seen in the Terragen Gallery at planetside in their TG2[new version which will support imported objects]Gallery, does the very best I've seen on the net. There is a free ware plant generator I tried, but I found it hard to work with and as I recall doesn't do trees so I uninstalled it. But it is free, do a search if you're interested in that. The non free ones tend to be priced out of my budget but if you're looking at buying Vue5Inf, may well be a good investment, especially X-FROG.....

Hey everyone thanks for the responses. I've checked out the trees at cornucopia3d.com and those look really good, probably my best bet. Thanks again for the input.

An alternative you may want to try... Arbaro. A freebie from Source Forge. It can create incredibly realistic trees (and other plants) and can export them in .obj format. You'll have to texture them yourself, tho..WARNING - Arbaro trees are VERY poly heavy (each leaf is a separate object, not a picture applied to a 2D plane) so only use for the very nearest trees...
Also, you'll need Java to run it..
OTOH - it's free:-))

Alright, back again. The trial version I have doesn't come with a conifer, and at Cornucopia3D it says I have to have that tree for those ones to work, so I can't purchase those, even though they look exactly like what I'm looking for. Is there anywhere I can find that tree, even if it's just in object form? Or do I have to wait until I can afford the full version? I've tried the other solutions you guys have provided for me (thanks again), but it looks like the conifer that comes with Vue is the one I'm looking for.

You might want to try this free program I found by typing free tree maker into google. Be Adventurous, Explore, people...it's all out there....

There are a number of nice trees available at very reasonable prices at RuntimeDNA. They are in Poser format, so you have to save them as pz3 and import, but they work pretty well and can be used in ecosystems. (The random rotate and rescale conceals the fact that there are only three or so different geometries).

1: HOW CAN I SEARCH THIS FORUM ON THIS WEBSITE? THERE'S NO SEARCH BUTTON OR BOX ANYWHERE THAT I CAN FIND!!!
2: I'm trying to find Linda Daireaux to ask her to build some plants for architects
3: There's a tree builder called something like 'Frog' I saw that may be free or not I forget... look it up in your favorite search engine.

The search link is r-i-g-h-t at the top of the page below the site banner.

There is a tree(vegetation software called x-frog)
Xfrog also has I think 22 cd and dvds of different trees and plants which are as good as one can get to use in 3D. They come in different formats already to use in most all major applications.
Do search for xfrog here at Renderosity in the market place. :)
Xfrog the program you can build your own from scratch. :)

I know of x-frog, I guess I was just curious if I could find the conifer that is supposed to come with vue.
bobbystahr posted Fri, 22 September 2006 at 6:15 PM
Also X-Frog is most definately not a free app......just a very good one I'd buy had I the bux...it is the preferred veg format for the 'soon to be released' TG2, that's terragen 2 for the under informed.
I also noticed in the banner adds her at R'osity, that they are now including *BillBoard Trees, *which are 2 poly planes with an alpha[trans mapped] channeled pic of a tree on it. Very handy when you need a distant forest and can't afford the polys a real forest would cost...been making these in Imagine for years now...easy enough if you have lots of good tree photos.
