I imported a terrain mesh from 3ds max. The land has a cabin sitting on a hillside. The mesh is changed in vue, some areas are raised where they shouldn't be, or visa versa. I even exported the mesh with the cabin on it as one mesh and in vue it still alters the terrain. I have the land just how I want it with the cabin sitting right where it should be in 3ds max. When I select the mesh in vue, it shows it with the outlines like it should be, but when I deselect or render it is different. Any ideas? I hope this makes sense.

Okay, it seems that the mesh has mirrored horizontally. Is there any way to mirror in vue?

To mirror in Vue, change the scale of the object you want to mirror to -1 instead of +1.

That would be in axis that you want the mirror to happen in?...good trick....must remember that for when I actually get Vue...Gonna be a Pro by the time I can afford it...LOL...reading this forum was my best move, a very learning experience.

What you describe sounds to me as if you have used some sort of functions in Max that Vue does interpretate wrongly. Could that be? Things like mirroring, flatening maybe even - if that does exist in 3DS Max.
In what format have you exported from Max and then imported to Vue?

I had mirrored the mesh in max before I exported it. I exported it as a .3ds file. It's okay now, I had to rebuild the mesh anyway and I didn't have a problem with the new one. Thanks for the replies.

I imported a terrain mesh as a .3ds that I built in Sketchup.
I applied ecosytems to different layers that I had in the mesh. (I had put certain faces of the mesh on different layers in Sketchup)
Then after I populated the ecosystems, and rotated the camera to get a closer look, all the ecosystems veg. MOVED BY A 1/4 OF A MILE OR SO... so I had to RE-populated each of the 5-6 ecosystems... this happened 5 or 6 times, then I closed VUE and did it in VIZ and Photoshop.
There are some things about V5i I REALLY hate... working with imported objects is it's major weakness.
