Has anyone used the material room & shader nodes to design different kinds of fabrics?  I've seen some "cloth" freebies from Ajax and Tabala, but I'm looking for help with different weaves & cloth textures.  Say the difference between a pair of blue jeans, a polyester shirt and a pair of curtains.

they usually just scan 'em or take digital photos of 'em, AFAIK. barring any copyright concerns, of course.

Oh, I know there are tons of freebie tiled JPGs and stuff.  I was looking for things more procedural so I can better understand the material room, specifically what makes wool look different from cotton.

Mapps has a huge set of procedural shaders. I also bought a couple of commercial sets which have some overlaps, for such things as leather. Different people use different methods.

I think I have Mapps stuff too.  I'll see what they have.  Like I said, I'm trying to better understand how to represent weaves & patterns in textiles

I have some by "3dArt"  which I think are procedural.  Not sure where they came from, and readme has no URL :(  Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Search for migbruca in the Poser freestuff area of 3dcommune. Free membership required. I believe he's the 3dArt that BeyondVR refered to.

Thanks, kalon!  I followed the search back to a site he has (attached)

If you ask over at runtimedna, they have some threads going on procedural mats and such.
