Howdy fellow Carrara-ites, The good folks at VTC have worked with me in putting together a tutorial series for DAZ's Carrara Pro 5.1. Of course I'm biased, but it's worth checking out for three reasons: 1) It does start at the beginner level for people new to Carrara. 2) It DOES include more advanced capabilites of Carrara than in most tutorials cover 3) The first three sections are FREE. I've done my best to cover many of the recurring questions I see popping up in the forum here plus show some great ways to maximize your investment in Carrara by demonstrating ways that take Carrara's toolsets to the next level. If you're a super-pro with Carrara, the super-advanced Carrara Dark Arts series will come later. ;) Use them in good health! Mark

Marvelous! That's a great new resource for learning Carrara from the bottom up. Thank you Mark!

These tutorials look great and very comprehensive. It is good to see a master contribute to the community.

Thanks!

Mark speaks!!!  Now we can put a voice to the typing in this forum.  ;-)

Looks great Mark.  I have passed this along to some of my co-workers who always ask me to teach them Carrara (like I have time!)

Thank you Mark, I enjoyed playing around with the custom leaf/tree tutorials - 1 and 2. Took me a few days since I didn't follow the tutorial to a T and ran into problems because of it. Here is a post after two days ( 2-3 hours) of work taking my own photo, photoshop, then carrara: The hot point of each 2D plane with leaf mapped is at the point where I think the stem of the leaf map sits, but I see a few leaves in the render are not touching a branch on the tree... no big deal to me, but curious why. Do you know if the plant attaches to the hot point of the leaf? Thanks again, R

Never Give Up!

Hi Rob, You know, I thought I mentioned that in the tutorial but looks like I forgot. :-P The leaf shape must be turned so it's flat in the Assembly room. Carrara grabs the furthest -X coordinate and uses it as the base of the leaf. Moving the hot point shouldn't have any effect. Thanks for catching that, I'll put a note about it on my website that clarifies that. I'm almost ready to post an advanced Carrara Dark Arts tutorial there too. :) Mark

Mark

Thanks for the link. The samples are excellent. Its great to hear someone who can talk clearly and with the ability to explain the subject so well. As soon as I get my Social Security check and my wife isn't looking I'm going to order the CD. Good job on a well done project. You have set a new standard.

Bob

Mark,

The samples are fantastic and now I've just had the full course delivered on CD.

This is really cool, so much better than manuals and very clear and thorough. Money well spent :)
