What started out as an idea is now a reality. We first came up with the idea of launching a magazine to promote upcoming artists and also artwork of the sci-fi, fetish, and gothic genres. And we've finally got round to making the very first issue of the magazine.
To download your copy go to www.forbiddenwhispers.co.uk
Forbidden Whispers Magazine Issue 2
We are currently look for digital artists and poets/story writers and comic book artists to submit their work to be featured in the second issue of the magazine.
We are looking for work that covers the sci-fi, fetish and gothic genres. We will accept work of any caliber as we want to showcase all talents as we feel everyone deserves the right to have their work exposed.
If you would like your work in the second issue of the magazine please read the guidelines below.
Submission Guidelines
3 or more images preferably at high resolution
(as we intend to take this magazine to print)
Poetry/stories should follow the theme and be as long
as you like. Please use your own discretion when submitting your work.
We don't mind 'erotic' work but please NO 'porn'
Comic book artists feel free to submit your comic book style pages and layouts, again use your own discretion.
A small bio about yourself and your work and
influences and so forth.
A small photo of yourself is optional.
As we like to give the magazine a little personal touch.
Also, please make us aware if you would like your
'real name' publishing alongside your pseudonym
If you feel you have something to offer then please forward your files to the following address

That's a cool flipbook application and your page layouts and graphics are eye-catching, but I had a brief moment of worry because it's not a magazine to open up in the corporate office during lunch break.

Wowza! Congratz! The mag looks absolutely wonderful! I'm REALLY impressed with the whole design and layout (very professional!), and I just LOVE the slick page-turning format. Wasn't expecting that! I had thought it was going to be a PDF like so many others are. two thumbs up Can't wait to see what you guys do with Issue #2!

Congratulation on your excellent first issue!
Two thumbs up.
I will be looking forward to future issues.

BTW: Just curious as to the software used to put your magazine together…it’s very professional looking.
LillianaSapphire posted Thu, 28 September 2006 at 2:01 PM
We used Photoshop to compile the pages themselves, then used a somewhat unheard of piece of software called Desktop Author :)

LOL! Nah, I don't think it needs to be tinkered with. Just think about whatever it is you'd like to change and implement it in the next one.
And thanks! Got your IM with the guidelines! I'd definitely like to submit some more stuff to Issue 2...maybe even a Sci-Fi short story. I'm wondering though, what you view as the differences between Erotica and Porn? What exactly is allowed and what's not? Nudity, kissing/caressing, but no actual sexual acts, oral or penetration, etc?

LillianaSapphire posted Thu, 28 September 2006 at 4:41 PM
Whats allowed, nudity, kissing, caressing, but defo NO sexual acts, penetration, oral etc as we are not trying to make this is pornographic magazine if you know what we mean. Erotic art is fine, but NO porn.
Please use your own discretion... We'll look forward to your submissions Neyjour!
And Gini, we have it on good authority that it will work with virtual PC for the Mac, but sadly there is no Mac support at the moment, but we will look into an alternative for you :) For now you can view the magazine in PDF format. We've just knocked one together really quick which you can download here in a few minutes when the file goes over.. that also applies to anyone else having problems viewing the mag using a mac..

My questions about Erotica vs. Porn were in regards to the writing (stories, poems, etc.). I wasn't sure if the same rules applied to both the art and writing submissions. Will have to try hard to keep it "clean". Tehehe!
Thanks Anna!

LOL at virtual PC , I'm too die hard mac for that........ Word for mac is as far as I've gone towards the dark side ; ) Unfortunately I can't get through with your link with either Safari or IE, I get "lost network connection" from the first and a error message from the latter. I do really appreciate your trying though and will check back on the link tomorrow. I hope you get the mag mac compatible......it sounds really nice, the virtual pages turning and all ! Cheers

Ok Gini, the link will work now, seem that we had SO much tarffic to the site last night (we transfered over 1.5 gig of traffic on the site in less than 24 hours :S) The site is back up now and running fine, so the link should work for you now hun :)
With regards to the printed version, this will be done at a cost. You will have to purchase this version but the e-zine version will remain free and can be printed by yourselves if you so wish so. But of course there is no real subsitute than having a professional looking prinited magazine. As soon as this is finalized we'll hit you with the links and information and it will be availble.
Thanks everyone for your supprt and compliments regarding this ambitious project

Well here's yet another update for you all, I've changed some of the layout composition somewhat and trying to keep the same coporate feel of the logo through out all the issues. Going for a cleaner look for this issue trying out some new ideas. A few more details about the second issue are on the magazine site on our website...
Front cover still subject to changes wink Yes I'm picky lol
