I think we are all guilty of doing a bit of chimping (except of course those of us who remain truely planted in the non-digital age of photography). Thing is i dont make those sounds when looking at the shots on screen and i have no-one to "chimp" to generally, but that doesnt mean if i did i wouldnt

LOL so that is how they call it? I am a silent one, yes I do check every single shot I made (except when braketing) and do have a remarks on some really cool or some absolutly hopeless capture. Only my face impression tells if I am happy with a shot or dissapointed. Beside... I am living in a village where a lot of ppl knows me. If I would talk aloud, soon I would be a local fruitcake. LOL so I am glad I am not a talker.

...thats one of the cons people have with the EOS 400D. The exposure settings (on the 400D) are done/viewed through the LCD so it looks like you're chimping when you're really making adjustments. I hardly CHIMP (no really) when I do, its usually just a sigh of relief (that I got the shot) although sometimes I showoff the image so I could sell it faster.
