Extract from industry news from this Months 3D World:
"Victoria4 will be available imminently, closely followed by Mike4 and Girl2.
The characters will also benefit from DAZ's new OptiTex dynamic clothing technology. The system is based on real world textile design technology allowing clothing to drape naturally.
Unlike E-frontiers VFB, OptiTex is said to be capable of creating automatically conforming clothes!"
End of extract!

Well that sure sounds interesting. Can't wait to see just what it really is/does. :)

Hmm. Keeping DAZ|Studio in mind, I'd guess a year or two...

I am expecting V4 any day now. This is the time of year DAZ usually releases a new figure.
But I'm not holding my breath for OptiTex.

Well I know they're up to something, been teasing us in the PC forum (see Begging Nite thread if you're a member). I'm guessing when it comes to V4, "Soon" is about to become "Next (2) week(s)". But that's only a guess, mind you.

I hope you're right Byrdie. I really really hope so!!

OptiTex will be out some time next year I think, according to Dan, solid info will be available about it by the end of the year!

They HAVE to be cagey! There are so many things that CAN wrong with new things, especially if the beta-testers miss one little thing! We'll probably hear (as per usually) about a day after they come out!
Also, this kind of fuss only helps them out by creating buzz.

We'll see......when we see. That's the mature attitude.
But I want mine RIGHT NOW ! Only not now -- YESTERDAY !
If "soon" means "anytime in the next 2-3 months or so" -- then that's fine. They can whip out a Big Mac in a couple of minutes. Filet mignon takes a little longer..........and the DAZ folks are very, very good cooks.
So.....let's see -- shopping list for the next (approx.) 4 months (aside from content) --
.......the rest of y'all can have as many copies of the Girl2 as you like..........

Totally agreed. I'd rather have a good V4 release that's late than a bad release that's early...

Well, if "she" has the same mesh problems (shoulders, armpits, breasts that don't move with the arms, etc...) there will be no use to upgrade.

Quote - This is probably old news, but I read an interview with Dan at Daz and he said V4 will be backwards-compatable and that's why they've been holding off on the release.
Dan Farr makes a clarification of this point on the first page of posts in the linked thread:

Basically, I understand him to be saying that the V4 backwards-compatibility with V3's clothes will be accomplished via a full body morph for V4 -- a morph to make V4's body shape itself like V3's. Otherwise, V4 will be completely unique.

My shopping list:
P7 upgrade
Vue or Bryce 6, whichever's cheaper. Probably the latter since I can upgrade from 5.5
M4 -pleasepleaseplease
Carrara 6 -- well, they're talking about it anyway. I've seen a few "features wishlist" threads @ Daz.
D4 -- hey, I can dream, can't I?
V4 and/or Girl2 -- maybe. If it's a PC item and I have any money left after all of the above.

actually let me clarify that a bit more with the full actual quote on V4-v3 compatiblility > Quote - Hello, It has been pointed out by some of the mods here that I needed to clarify a statement that I made in the Artzone Chat. The V4 to V3 clothing fit will be done similarly to what we did for the V3 to V2 (and other figures) clothing fit. Effectively this is done internally by creating a morph target from V4 that has the body shape of V3. Then we regroup the model so that it can use the V3 rig for compatability with V3 clothing. It will be compatable with the V4 head morphs and the whole figure will retain the V4 UV's. Sorry if the statement I made was not as clear as it should have been. Sincerely, Dan Farr
so basicly what we are talking about is a seperate V4 to V3 figure, along the lines of the V3 to V2 figure. this will not share the same rigging as the new V4 figure.

Will this new "OptiTex dynamic clothing technology" that is being added to D/S put V4 in a useless position for P6 users? as we wont benefit from that, or will there be something on V4 that P6 users will be glad to see that will be better than V3????
Will there be a better clothing technology in Poser7????
And will this be the start of the end to Daz making figures for Poser when Daz Studio changes so much that both bits of software are no longer compatible with each other?????
I hope not.
Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.
