I just got the free Poser 5 deal that they gave away several weeks ago. I forgot to download it after several failed attempts from the heavy traffic that this deal generated. My question is what dose Poser 6 bring to a Carrara user as opposed to Poser 5. I am totally new to Poser and I am just getting familiar with the software. I like the walk designer and the fact that it imports the animation in to Carrara.

I don't have 5 so I don't know all that was added to poser 6. Do you have dynamic hair and cloth? I think the material room was updated, but that is irrelevant since you can't import procedural textures into Carrara anyway. If you like doing animations then the cloth room is nice as dynamic clothes move more realistically in an animation. Dynamic hair renders best in poser but some tutorials are around that explain how to get better renders in other applications.

If your using P5 just for importing into Carrara, your not going to find any difference to P6. P6 has better lighting and the clothroom is a bit faster and better material nodes, but other than that P5 is pretty much the same.

Most Poser6 stuff will downlod into Poser5 and work ok. Messages will come up on the screen but carrying on will allow most items to work just as if it was made for Poser5.
The Poser5 freebe is a must for all Carrara users.
