I've been having a lot of trouble with Carrara going non-responsive on me lately. I'm working on a still image with 2 poser figures and about a dozen spline and vertex objects, and it crashes sooner or later in just about every session and I lose some work. I have an AMD Sempron 2GHz, 960 Mb RAM running Windows XP. Any suggestions from you techies on this problem?

Thanks,

Larry

Resetting the Preferences will often sort out a problem like this.

In C5 Pro, just go to File>Reset Preferences.

Try to remove unused shaders and objects.

My suggestion is to ask Daz to troubleshoot it for you. You've paid them, not the other way around.

Also 960mb of ram is not much at all I'm afarid.  You should considering upgrading if at all possible.

Until then - check out the textures you are using on your Daz characters.  A lot of them come in around 3000x3000 to 4000x4000.  This eats up memory very fast.  If you have a paint program you want to consider reducing the texture sizes :) Maybe around 1000x1000 or even smaller if they are not being used for close ups.

You do not mention your graphics card.  Has it been regularly updated?

Basically have you a system that is updated and meets the minimum specs required for Carrara?(The minimum specs is NOT the best specs for working with Carrara though!)

A Sempron is basically an AMD Celeron, and that is probably your main problem.
