In my studio I have a reflector AC Soft with diam 56cm EH white and silver, a reflector umbrella MH, and yesterday, I listen a friend say me I need a windows Octa with 150cm.... What do you think, it's necesary I buy this one?  I have only a local with 27mª....:blink:

I have no idea, lol. If your set-up works for you, then you don't need to buy more I would guess.

I'm not quite sure what it is you are saying you have.

A classic 2 light setup usually consists of a reflecting umbrella for the harder main light and a  softer fill light provided by a shoot through umbrella or a soft box.

If you've got the money by all means get an Octa soft box.  If you are on a budget get a shoot through umbrella if you not using one at the moment.

Depending upon the style you wish to get you will need some harder light or the whole thing starts to look very flat if you use all soft light.

Perhaps your friend can loan you the one they suggest to see if its worth the money they do a round one which does provide a lovely catchlight and the square type also

I think like you Danob... Yesterday i make some shot  in nude artistic and I like to play with the slow lighting and the courb of body. I think this man say me that because he make photo portrait and for that it's necesary to have a very nice reflect light...

Yes Onslow, I have this materials and more umbrella effect I make me alone with wire netting and other support. Tomorrow i will go to see that...

 

 

**Well i dont have a studio and most of my photos i do onsite. On Sunday did my first wedding using a lightsphere II.**

It was very bright sunny day and outdoor wedding. I used speedlight with the clear lightsphere dome attached. Will show you a picture. The photos taken inside her house come out awesome. Makes shadows softer and less harsh.  Portraits softer also. When using flash it makes eyes sink in. Was really pleased with the outcome. Like a portable studio.

Well, it's easy to make a studio Chris. I maked that because I like and it's my hobbyist. I'm not professional, and when you start in studio is impossible to stop :lol:

My "studio" is the main room of our home.  I need to unpack the lights, etc., and set up. Still, having such control over lighting is addictive and lots of fun.  Light control allows so much for experiment. Best wishes in your studio, Valou.       Tom.
