Hi,

I have a pb when I print an image, as the ratio on screen and printed isn't the same, that means the result of the printing is sqeeze (less large than on screen).

I use PS CS2, and I print on an HP PSC 1210. I use square pixels, and my screen resolution is 1280*960. My screen is a syncmaster 959, a traditional one, not an LCD.

I have tried quite a lot of thing, but the result is always the same (if I use another soft than PS, HP photo imaging for instance give me the same distortion).

So if someone could help me it would be great!

Hi Qasar,

Can you post a screen cap of your settings in CS2? 
It might better help to see what's going on first.

Also, do you have "resample image" turned on or off?
It's located at the bottom of your image size panel.

thank you Ariannah for your answer. But I think it's a perceptoin problem, as I really had the impression that the portrait I was printing was not exactly at the same ratio that the image on the screen.

So I put a reference square grid on top and print, and surprise, the grid is OK measured with a ruler.... But I still have the "impression" that the ^portarit isn' square, (I didn't drink before), so !!!!!

The size/resolution of your screen and the size/resolution of the perceived image are not relevant to each other - I think that might be part of the perceived distortion problem.

Go to Image>Image Size, and change the Document Size section to show you the size in inches or centimeters (whichever one you use for measurement), and THAT will give you the dimensions it will print out.

An 800x800 pixel image will be nice and big on your screen, but printed out at 300dpi (if that is what it is set to) you will have a 2.66x2.66 inch print - teeny-tiny! If it is set to 72dpi, then you will have an 11.11x11.11 inch print - and a lot of times your printer (the HP) will know it is the wrong size for the paper (meaning you're usually printing it on an 8.5x11 inch sheet) and "squeeze" it to fit so you end up with a distorted image.

Thank you thandering 1, but my distortion pb isn't the same on height and large.  It's a pb of ratio between the two sides of the portrait!

As in (for example) it's tall and thin when it should be a square?

Are your circles circular on screen?
