*OMGDDSS!!! I hope I am not mistaken, are we Ren, in any way associated with Daz? Just asking cause of what Mahray said. It seems they are determined to take over everything in 3D! I love that Renderosity is seperate and Unique. Plus the Staff rocks! Just say it isn't so......

Okay I don't get it?  You mean the title like saying the "End of Renderosity is near"? If so, I meant the end of the conversion is near, LOL

Hmmmmm....this might be the time and place to bring this up.....I heard on another site that Renderosity is being sold.  Has anyone else heard this?  Is it truthful?

StaceyG posted Sat, 21 October 2006 at 2:59 PM

No Renderosity is not being sold. The other site that had a post about this was just a speculation on that persons part due to the management changes.  These were internal admin promoted but Renderosity is in no way being sold, LOL

Just someones attempt at getting a rumor going.

Hi, I'm working late again (it's been one heck !!!!!! of a month - many late, late nights - and I haven't been here or anywhere else much at all) but I took a break and came across this. Um.... It appears that once again, the animations will be hidden in the Free Stuff Area. That means that those looking for animations will look in the galleries and not find them. Again. Just like it used to be. That also means that people are less likely to stumble across them and gaze in awe as they are stunned that animations are even possible. Again. Just like it used to be. It also suggests that we still won't be able to post comments on animations. Just like it used to be. To be honest, I'm rather tired of animators being treated like red-headed bastard step-children. Some people put hours into one still image and post it where it's highlighted and featured. We put many many still images (easily thousands on a longer animation) into our animations. Obviously thats a heck of a lot of hours. Adding motion, timing, sound, story, all of those are quite complex tasks - regardless of the software used. For what? To be stashed in a corner where no one would think to look for us? Frankly I'm rather discouraged.

Bobasaur,

We did this so that we could get all the areas across and complete the conversion. We didn't want to lose all that were previously uploaded and at least be able to give a place for them to reside and contiinue with uploads.

We still are trying to look at some options for the best way to handle animations on our site.

I just find it unfathomable that you can't create a link to the Animation Outlet within the drop down boxes in the gallery. You don't have to recode the Animation Outlet itself. Just make it so it can be found. Set the link to open a new window with the Animation Outlet main page so it's easy to close Or add the Animation Outlet as a static link in the galleries in the line of links that says: [what's new] [most viewed] [most commented] [best ratings] etc. Or put a link to it back under the Features column where it was. Or heck, you could even go the extra distance and replace the "Who's Online" feature at the very top of the page (under the banner ad) with a link to the Animations Section and then move that "Who's Online" under the "Features" or "Member Options" (since members are probably the only people this feature relates to) on the right side of the interface. I understand ya'll are fighting with technology to change the actual coding of the gallery itself. My concern is not that (although to be honest I have been requesting changes for years literally in that area). My concern is that the animations get lost and aren't seen when links to them are in a completely unexpected and illogical place. Yes, the "Free Stuff" is an illogical place. Look at it from the point of view of someone who knows nothing about the coding limitations of the site. Do you honestly think anyone is going to look at the link menu and think, "Hmmm. I wonder if they have any animations? Let's see... Galleries? Forums? Tutorials? Contests? Marketplace? Free Stuff? Yeah, that's it.. Free Stuff. I bet that's where I can find animations!" "Illogical" is actually an understatement, isn't it... It would appear that ya'll are letting coding determine site navigation rather than user-friendliness.

I have placed a link on the sidebar that goes directly to the Animation Area.

I'm speaking with the programmers now about a possible link from the gallery area

Is it only me or is that article not linked anywhere off the front page so others can comment?? I am only one of two people who commented... so I am going to post my comment to the article HERE in case no one is reading the article and commenting "out there"... :)

and so if the end is near, THEN will the site speed up?? Sorry and maybe it is your coupon thing that is making the site SO SLOW again... I am trying to be patient, the site still has more pros than cons for me so I am hanging in...but...gee... maybe after the "end" comes some of the "clean up" will take some of the bandwidth hogging bells and whistles off to help the speed? ... like WHO CARES what art I stopped in to glance at and rendo has to make thumbs of...etc.?! Sorry...but this place is important, so I just have to speak up!

Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!
