...did anyone else get this? B6 wouldn't load on my XP machine until I searched the web and found this dll to download and place in the Windows/Systems folder...

It's part of that Microsoft.net/Framework thing, perhaps your OS needed updating? (although with XP I would have thought you would have been good to go)

If I'm not mistaken, I got the same message about some different apps a little while back. It was caused by a virus. I suggest you do a thorough scan.

Well actually I HAVE been using the Microsoft.net/Framework thing- as I use Semidieu's ShaderWorks for Poser- and I recently updated to Microsoft.net/Framework version 2.0. However- it is possible that when I uninstalled Version1.1 that it might have also wiped out that dll as well... (2.0 apparently DOESN'T have it?)

Also, I was told in another thread that I should "update DAZ Studio"...

...I don't use DAZ Studio- at all. But I suppose this is DAZ's way of trying to MAKE us use DAZ Studio?

I never installed DAZ Studio- YET when you press the DS button -THERE it is ANYWAY- so it looks like they install it as part of Bryce 6... so if they INCLUDE it, then why not include the dll as well???

Probably shouldn't have uninstalled v1.1, I never did myself. That's the only thing that I can think of that might have done it.

All those files with MS are usually Microsoft files, and other companies usually don't include them. MSCVR(Txx).dll is "Microsoft (R) C Runtime Library". You can download it here, too: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr71 And yes, Bryce 6 installs the latest version of Studio unless you told the installer to skip it. Since Studio and Bryce are quite connected, you should install the latest version, 1.3.1. I hope to see them as really just one program.

SKondris at DAZ, in connection with Bryce 7, brought up the ability to directly open figures with full posability in Bryce without need of a seperate app. Oddly, quite a few people seem to oppose this function for Bryce.

Well, I'm not. :-) As I already stated here a long time ago, 3ds max started with Character Studio as a separate install. Now they are one program. If it's good enough for a high-end program, it should be good enough for Bryce too. Especially since we all hope Bryce will get many new abilities high-end programs have. OTOH, Bryce/Studio should then also have the ability to morph figures like Poser or to replace a body part with a prop, again like Poser. And the ability to easily rig figures like Cinema, not to rely on Poser or PHI Builder or what not.

I search through the galleries by putting Bryce, Wings 3d, 3ds Max etc into the gallery search so I don't have to wade through the pile of crap that is most Poser image. I don't want to find Bryce filled to the rafters with the same lame Naked Vicki images, but by Daz  intergrating Studio that is what we can expect.

Well excuse me for using Daz studio as well as bryce. If you expect to see a lame naked vicky image from me in the bryce gallery you are expecting a lot. I think you will find most of the bryce users on this forum that actually use daz studio use it so they can import some of the other poser/daz models other than naked vicky into bryce. Oh yes i will admit i have one image in my gallery that does show vicky be partly nude, that one was done in daz studio.

So my dear friend some friendly advice from a bryce user that knows many of these artist, don't go thinking you can expect to see naked vicky in the bryce gallery, these people have better artistic talents that go far behond some lame naked model holding a sword in a temple.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

@CRAZYDAWG: I agree with you totally on the talent in this forum. Bryce users are amongst the most creative in Renderosity. My worry is the abilities of the new Bryce dragging the Daz studio/naked Vicki crowd in.

...In the END- it's all about   "CONTENT"--DAZ isn't giving away Bryce 6 for $6 just to be nice!

They want to make it EASY for the masses to use Bryce for their Nude Vickies in a Temple scenes- don't forget (like it or not)-- she PAYS the BILLS!!!

DAZ may show a cute Fairy dancing in the woods with Fawns- but, hey, it's REALLY about NVIATWAS!
