Here are a couple of "quick" HDR tested in Bryce 6. Wicked stuff!!!

These two scenes rendered at 2 minutes flat (each). No kidding. The secret?, i disable all shadows and let the metaballs do their stuff. Hdr quality at zero.

Another setting you must have on is the "Maximum Ray Depth" in the options, i set it here at 24. A setting of just 1 will render the metal completely black.

Shiny in the end and we like it.

ooops. Actualy the quality of the HDR here is 50. It is the shadows that affect it so much.

I rendered it at 16 RPP and its preety smooth.

looks good. I've tried a couple, continuie to turn down the dials..render times in excess of 7 hours...
using AMD64 3200+ with 1gig ram.
