Subject: First Bryce6 Freebie: 24 HDR-ready materials

Well here goes! Here are 24 simple "base" materials that are designed for use in HDR scenes. Many are designed to be used with blurry relfections enabled for best results, although it's not absolutely neccessary: Download HDR materials for Bryce 6 matrenderlayout.jpg If you try them out, please post the image here so I can see how ya'll are working with them. How do you use these "mat"   I was using hdr files?  please explain...

How to best install also...  what catagory are you placing your mats in...?

Tom - to install just extract the .mat file into ..Bryce 6PresetsMaterialsUser

Not sure where to put this one, but since I'm using a couple of Max's mats, I thought I'd dump it in here.  The primitives are real, the rest is HDRI image.  For this to work you'd probably need to use a larger resolution for the hdri.

Not getting how to use these. I added em in to materials. But when I go to the Skylab, it is only looking for HRD files???
How do ya use these?

I have not tried this but MAYBE you set your model with reflection and put this mat, on a surface,  near but out of camera sight and let your model reflet the mat....  sounds like the only way to do it....

Sorry guys, biut of a misunderstanding. These are not HDR files, but materials to be placed on objects within a scene that is lit with .HDR files. You apply them to regular objects in your scene, and load a separate .hdr of your choice in the sky lab.

Well, I thought I would do a little test.  I downloaded the HDR scene provided by AgentSmith entitled  "HDRI & Render Speeds - Example & Download."  Then I duplicated the "thingy" object a couple times and applied three of the textures provided by madmax_br5 (this thread..)

This render with HDR turned off and took 40 seconds on my little laptop.

Great render.. I like the look to the objects....  a little caustics on the glass....
