Are there any out there?  I'd like to have a go with it, but as there aren't any - that I can find - I can't.

I'd rather spend my time playing with all the new things in Bryce 6 and it seems that to use all those .hdr long sky images you nead to learn how to use HDRIShop so you can convert them into useable "probes".... (sigh)

I have tried the links in the Bryce Backroom thingie for HDRI, but those that SAID they were "probes" which it seems you must have for it to work in B6 - just 404'd on me.

Help?

http://www.debevec.org/Probes/ works. Just download those in HDR format. http://www.rna.hr/tutorial01/Tutorial01_part6.htm also works, although it's not in the backroom. Another one at http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials/hdri/hdri_1.asp. Just go down and find the link to rnl_probe.zip. I'm not going to directly link to other people's files... Two at this German HDR tutorial page, http://www.dma.ufg.ac.at/app/pane/102.120/module/9933;jsessionid=82497D22FCF7C9821895B3458F566151, down at the bottom. Pity Dosch doesn't have samples, as they have tons of great HDR images, in all kinds of formats. Jeeez. I kinda discovered that the majority of free angular map lightprobes is at Debevec's site...

Thanks for that, I'll take another look at the weekend, if I have time - I have to help my husband write 2 - 500 word essays, he's not looking forward to it.

I have now got an extremely simple 10 step procedure for using HDRShop to do conversions, so I'm pretty happy.... - I did find a few probe images on Debevec's site, so that's nice - thanks

I guess now all I need is the time to actually use all this... koff koff.

Dosch Designs sent me two light probe files to test in Bryce 6 and they work just fine.

The ones they sent me are from this package:

http://www.doschdesign.com/products/hdri/Extreme_Hires_DVD.html

If you buy any of their HDRI files, make sure you get the HDRI - Light Probe versions.

Of course, this also means that their HDRI Finish program will make Bryce 6 compatible light probes:

http://www.doschdesign.com/products/hdri/HDRfinish_V1.html

Unfortunately, the program is Windows only, but the HDRI files are cross-platform.

AS, would you please add this to your HDRI listing for B6? Thanks.

Just now noticed... No wonder they've got such great HDRIs when they use Spheron VR stuff.

Just a quick question - is there a specific place in Bryce to place the .hdr files or can they go anywhere?

They can go anywhere. You load them like any image texture.

Thanks much - been working with HDRShop and didn't know where to put them.
