Hi!

I have some problems that are disturbing to me:

1: sometimes when i Y-rotate a character it makes a wide circle instead of spinning on the spot, why?

2: Is there a way to gather the bodyparts on the parameter dials, for example all the fingers and their parts will be displayed in a sub menu?

3: Why does Poser think I want to save my newly renderd pic in the folder I last used from the libraries?

I use Poser 5 (have P6 to but prefer P5)

Thx in advance / Jonny

1: x- and z-trans actor body, not actor hip. 2: http://www.rbtwhiz.com/rbtwhiz_ERC.html 3: ?

Hi Amacord and thx for your answers.

I dont really get your point here

1: quote "x- and z-trans actor body, not actor hip", I dont want to move the body, its the rotation of the figure that sometimes occurs on the spot and other times makes a giant circle. Body is always choosed.

2: http://www.rbtwhiz.com/rbtwhiz_ERC.html refers to something far more advanced then what i am after, i just want to minimize the lenght of library palette.

3: Lets say I always save my pictures at the root of F: , if i apply a pose from F:Poser5RuntimeLibrariesposefolder as a last thing before I render, then Poser wants to save the picture at that location, is there a way to set F: as default?

Sorry if my questions were unclear.

Regards / Jonny

Allows you to pose the hands and fingers all together - very good. Love esther

  1. Sometimes, sometimes not, it's better to select the hip if you want to rotate a figure on-the-spot, don't know why.
  2. Not sure what you mean. When you select the hand you can grip, spread the fingers. You can't select more than one group with anything in Poser. Except with the grouping tool or a Python script.
  3. I think Poser goes back to the last folder you worked in/opened. Not really a problem. just anoying.

misunderstanding on "2.".....create a new group for the actor as shown above, then l-click and drag the channels into that folder. at "1." - just try it. load the figure, apply one of the troublemaking poses, and if it does the circle-thing then check x-and z-trans of actor hip. i bet my very last penny that they are not zeroed.

Hi and thx for your answers.

Guess I cant explain what im after in question number 2:

I have made up a picture for what im after (not to control movements)

I just want to improve the workflow :)

Amacord!

I shall try your tip with the x-and z-trans next time the problem occurs, thx.

To my second question it is not really the channels but the bodyparts i want to gather, dont know if that can be done.

Sorry, there's no way to do that. Oh, except: - Learn to be a software programmer - Get a job at e-frontier - Make Poser 8 a better place for us all to be.

Try using the hierarchy window. You can expand and collapse the list . Click on the hand icon to select an actor.

That was a great tip PhilC!

I placed the hierarchy window next to my library palette (glad i use two screens), now I just have to get used to work in both fields.

And thank you all for your helpful input!

  1. The reason why the figure sometimes moves in a circle is AFAIK because the center point is offset. For instance the Daz  Toon Kitty (or is it the toon dog?) rotates around the tip of its tail. Most inconvenient.

  2. I can think of ONE scenario where this is actually nice: When you've just saved someting to the palette and have rendered a nice new thumbnail for it. Other than that, it's just one of Poser's annoying quirks.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

  1. Yes, some pose packs sold have the Hip X, Y, and or Z translated, in order to get the body into the desired position.  This is the only way to get V3 (for example) into certain poses. Using IK on her legs, you can rotate and move the Hip independent of her feet, which is very, very useful depending on what you want to do. But a side effect of this Hip tranlation is if you Y rotate the Body, she will make that circle.

That’s cause he’s trying to sniff himself…

All dogs do that.
