Attached Link: Renderosity Halloween Contest 2006: "Wake the Dead"
Renderosity Halloween Contest 2006 - Winners!Halloween is a tradition celebrated on the night of October 31, most notably by children dressing in costumes and going door-to-door collecting sweets, fruit, and other treats. Apart from this trick-or-treating, there are many other traditional Halloween activities. Some of these include costume parties, watching horror films, going to "haunted" houses, and traditional autumn activities such as hayrides, some of these even "haunted". [From Wikipedia]
This year's Renderosity Halloween Contest was a great success! We received over 500 entries and they covered the whole range of what Halloween can be. The theme this year was Wake the Dead and it was great seeing all the interpretations on it, from the scary ones to the funny, from the serious to the light hearted. The judges had a really tough time going through all the entries and picking their choices but they did it and the result is presented below. Big congratulations to the winners and big thank you to all who entered! Many thanks also to our generous sponsors!

How exactly were we being judged ? The grand prize I agree with, Awesome work Malic ! ( got that one right ). However......Killerpumpkins at Mention 6 ? Deviney at 3rd runner up ? Come on guys and gals, these works are quality ! If we were not being judged on quality as well as theme , why allow post work ? Much time is spent in post work (refining and tweaking). or should I say "much time wasted ". .......Very disapointed ! :( " No doubt this will be my one and only post in any forum on this site ".

A huge contest with a lot of talent on exhibition. It must have been a tough decision.

Hi TwoPynts,
I want to take a moment to personally thank everyone that entered. I have to say that I was completely blown away with the diversity, creativity, and talent that was submitted to this contest.
I went through the contest image, by image and laughed at the humor, cringed at the gore (that's a fantastic thing in my book), had my skin crawl, felt the pain of loss and the joy of wonder and was awed by so many images that my initial selection of entries was somewhere around 100.
It was really hard to go back through again and again and narrow it down beyond that point.
Then to see all the other selections and choices from the all the other judges was humbling, as I am always reminded that art is eternally subjective.
So to those that won...congratulations! Well done!
To all that participated...thank you so very much for sharing your creative visions. We hope everyone will participate in our current contests and challenges and the upcoming 6th Annual Holiday Contest...coming very soon!!

I did not expect to win, I am new here... I did however see a picture in Renderosity that anyone who saw it would of picked it for first place hands down. I was looking for it through my favorites...I didn't find it. The picture was of a woman on a table in the morgue. an angel hovered over her and was blowing life into her. The picture was a light blue giving you a cold feeling... If any body reads this and you know what picture I am talking about please contact me. I am so disapointed I don't have it in my favorites and I am even more disapointed it didn't even get mentioned - if you saw it, you know what I'm talking about. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT HALLOWEEN CONTEST... Little over 350 days, I'll be ready by then.

Mikeerson-
All of the Halloween Contest entrys can still be viewed under: CONTESTS-FINISHED CONTESTS-RENDEROSITY HALLOWEEN CONTEST. Hope this helps.
And To everyone Who participated in the contest,
I'd like to say congratulations-not only to the winners, but also to the many other entrants
who show such a high degree of talent and and creativity. There were some amazing entries that I thought for sure would place in the contest. Many of them didn't. I guess i'ts true, that
art is a very personal thing. There are many different eyes and many different beholders.
I was among the 500+ entrants in the contest. I put many hours into the art that I entered, as I
know you all did, I did not win a prize.
I do know, however, that the contest inspired me to work hard, very hard- and like a
sharpening stone to a sword- helped push me to my limits to further hone my craft.
So to everyone who participated. To everyone who through blood, sweat and tears created
art for this contest- I salute you. We are all now stronger for it.
Good luck to all in the holiday contest!!!

I just wanted to say "thank you" to LillianH and all the others involved in the contest. And a special nod to the judges, for judging is not an easy task (and one that often draws much flak from critics).
I also wanted to thank all who contributed so many quality prizes, great and small, as this generosity no doubt spurred many of us to be all the more creative, and provided a special reward for those who demonstrated the best efforts, coming out like the cream at the top of the Renderosity jug :o)
And finally, a thank you to all the artists who vied for positions, the fruits of their labors creating some wonderful and often terrifying artwork for us all to enjoy.
