Oh That's great!! Just a few questions questions: 1. does the face plate disappear or be made invisible? 2. does the grid screen come off completely so I can change the angle of lift as needed or is it just hinged as in your pic? 3. is it uv mapped (preferable with seperate UVs)? 4. Where can I find it? :)

shante:
1. By the face plate... I take it you mean the... err... pavement plane. I can make that a seperate group... so you can invisiblise it if you want.
Yes... the grid is seperate so that you can pose it as you wish... raised as if hinged or layed flat outside of the hole.
I will UV map it so its easy to texture.
Will give you a link where to d/l... when its finished.
Okay... what size does it need to be...? Big enough for a figure to fit in/poke out of..? If so... what figure..?
Do you actually want the 'hole' beneath it... or is it just needed to lay flat on a surface that you already have..?
Just let me know...

It will be used as a standard pavement drain....street....basement....dungeon....shower stall. I can change the size as needed as long as it doesn't facet out on me when enlarging (assuming it is designed small at the onset). To keep it simple, you can prep it with the grate down into position and zeroed out so I can just prop it into position as needed and adjust the grate to accomodate whatever my nasy heart desires coming through it! :) Yeah the hole pipe as you have it here is ok and you can also leave the ground plane if small. I can either make it transparent as needed or use it as a steel face plate say for a wall mounting. In the event I use it as a wall mount...is there an thickness to the pavement plate? Seperate UVs are very cool. It will be more versatile texturing all the different parts! YEah! I am stoked. Can't wait 'till its ready! THANKS!!!! BTW I LOVE YOUR AVATAR Looks like Alfred E. Newman (I think that was his name).....the face of MAD Magazine!.

have split it into seperate parts... the grid cover... the round grid surround... the square surround... the ground plane and the pipe... that way you can use which parts you want as you want...
Just finishing off the mapping....

I'd like a copy of that too, if at all possible. It definitely looks rather keen. keep up the good work.

Well... originally... I made it as a one of after seeing shante's request and thinking... "Hey... even I can do that..!"
But I have had a few more requests for it as well, soooo.... rather than add it to my freebies as it stands.. well lays actually... I am gonna make it a bit more... usable... that is...
I will make the ground/pavement plane somewhat larger and elongated and add a curb edge and a bit of road to it...
I will also add a wall section to the back of the pavement and stuff another drain into that... will make the wall quite tall and longer than the pavement section so that it can be raised or lowered to alter the height of the drain and moved side to side so that both drains dont have to be in same camera shot.
Originally, I didn't think there would be much use for a drain... but I guess it could be useful for comic renders and such... peeple falling down... err... drains... I guess.
Give me a lil while and I will see what I can come up with...

Actually, I wasn't thinking of using it as a drain cover; but vertically as an articulated grating to a large, 6 foot culvert. I was thinking of posing a figure behind it, with the hands reaching through the bars, pleading to be let out.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

No prob.. you will be able to do that with what I propose above... by scaling the wall section up to suit.

Hey Zig! Thanks very much just downloaded the drain rig. When is this top one (with pavement and walls and stuff) going to be made available? Looks neat!
