I CAN'T BELIVE IT...AFTER ALL THIS... I was told to update both vue and poser so my V3 that was importing as a pz3 from poser would not come in with NO POSE (and probably no morphs)..... I have used vue and poser forever... the only thing is, I think after I upgraded vue to the .09 update for e-on's store content, I had not since then imported HUMAN FIGURE...my animals and any props were coming in fine so now I just found this problem with the human figure! and noooo my v3 and stuff on her are NOT obz's - never were!!!
You can see how I have my settings, which I MADE SURE DID NOT CHANGE when I updated poser and you can see the posed figure pz3-saved new...
http://www.lynescreations.com/PoserUpdate.jpg please hit BACK on your browser
Then I RE DID THE UPDATED PATH TO POSER 6 IN VUE, AFTER IT'S UPDATE, AND LET VUE "RESTART".... AND HERE IS THE SAME RESULT!! NO POSED FIGURE!!!
http://www.lynescreations.com/VueUpdate.jpg please hit back on your browser.
PLEASE HELP!! I CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT HAS GONE WRONG AND I AM NOT ABOUT TO REINSTALL A 60 GIG POSER NOR MY HUGE VUE 5, AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO!
THE ONLY THING I DID TO POSER WAS TAKE AWAY THE CONTENT ROOM...ALL MY OTHER PREF SETTINGS STAYED.... WHAT ELSE CAN I DO IN POSER OR VUE?!??!
Is there a setting I am missing?? Yes, I have posted this in the vue forum here, will post in e-on store forum and also go to the trouble of making a trouble ticket at e-on.... As I said before, I am not going to buy my vue 6 until my vue 5 is not broken...so I have a "working vue" while I learn and vue 6 get's de-bugged...also FYI... my vue 5.11 uses my OLD extra veggies, my new plants from the store and also sees eco system THE DEEP from monsoon, even opened my vue 5.9 scene that was set up for this human figure fine... THAT SCENE (in my renderosity gallery) imported the victorian house pz3 fine and still sees it.... WAAAAAAA!
WIMPER
PS computer has NOT changed.... I run a 64 bit board with xp home sr2 as always with latests critical only updates... my vue 5.7 and my poser 6.1 talked fine!! :(

If you reinstall poser you do NOT have to delete your entire runtimes. Just use the windows uninstall feature, and then reinstall to the same location on your PC.
Once you reinstall, then use the "add runtime" feature to re add your current work runtimes.
if I had to find a culprit, I'd say it was vue rather then poser. Maybe a uninstall.reinstall Vue first, especially since there is a lot less content intalled for it on your system?
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

PSS. I DOWNLOAD UPDATES AND INSTALL MANUALLY, NEVER EVER UPDATE FROM WITHIN A PROGRAM!
uh what?? I came back to add my PSS.... I do NOT want to reinstall poser...and yes I do think it is vue, but why would I have to reinstall vue and patch it again...COULD THE .09 PATCH HAVE A BAD LITTLE THINGY IN THERE blocking poser ??? hmmm. I sooo don't want to reinstall - my extra veggies with serial numbers were awful... hmmm I MAY have the engine for vue 5.7 in my back ups... if I put THAT back in vue...and then put the .11 patch on..maybe the .9 problem would be gone???!! hmmm
? I have ONE POSER AND ONE RUNTIME - and vue has and is reading and importing all props, trees etc, just fine... the last time I had a poser figure come in with no MORPHS BUT IT DID STAY POSED was when I first got P6 and learned to uncheck the darn separate morph thingy... and I never forgot that... sigh.
I do have this post EVERYWHERE... I wonder if there is a setting in vue I am missing? that is why I did the screen cap... .and and FYI... I did actually change a texture setting on her hat from alternate diffuse to regular (there was no texture on her hat on import) and VUE SAW THAT AND ASKED IF I WANTED TO RE IMPORT... SAID YES....and there she stands with her arms out and nothing posed... her body, her hat, her braids... sigh... oooo sigh...

Lyne could we please you import settings? Are you importing as a single mesh? Is interpolation checked or unchecked?
It has to something there as no one else is having troubles importing PZ3's.

Do you mean the ones I show here? Where else are the import settings? In the window where I tell it to do ONE mesh? (becasue I am not animating)...I do not change any other setting but to put the dot at the bottom to say one frame... I will go get a screen capture of that ....Life Requires Assembly and we all know how THAT goes!

here is the screen capture for that...I know... this is FREAKY strange! I also checked and I only have my vue backed up at the 5.9... I liked that so well I did not see the reson to keep the 5.7 vue engine folder. :(

Take off interpolation & try again.
I should mention - that since V6 is out chances are about 99.9% that there will be no more updates to V5I - installing 5.11 made Vue the stablist it's ever been - as Bruno has said almost a new program.
Lyne posted Sat, 25 November 2006 at 7:25 PM
okay... trying... no.... no change... oooo dear....ooo dear.... when I first installed vue, I had SUCH a time with my "extra veggies" and had to get new serial numbers and get the copy of those off the CD and reinstall... been sooo careful to keep my content intact....
I wonder if I should RE-INSTALL the .11 update? oooo dear....maybe do a cold restart of my computer? I will try that...getting really frustrated at this point.... and I think the folks at tech and the e-on store are all asleep right now...

Calm down :) 1st thing. Please go back to 5.11. Start with a clean boot and go from there. Take 1 thing at a time :)

You are not going to believe this... I cold restarted machine....and then instead of importing my Anne... I got a V3 pz3 with same character, sitting on log, with Travis in her lap...imported and IT'S RENDERING!!!!! Either it was the cold restart OR my poser cach locked in the error... or even vue locked in the error to the file/figure in poser... I hope! I am going to finish the render (my first full render with MY settings in 5.11) and then I am going to import other figures....and then try reposing Anne and save with really new name and try again AFTER DUMPING POSER'S TEMP FILES..... I think there is an error just for my Anne pz3's...locked in SOMEHWHERE in vue or poser, do you think?...
Just that the way my life has been going since August, if you knew... why I was really getting frustrated... BUT THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE!!! Just a calm voice and a trip to the bathroom... and a reboot... LOL may have done it!! I will post here if things continue to work! :))

Shader has nothing to do with it.
Please provide a list of EXACTLY what you are using:
I can see I have these same items & test on my end.
Also try importing w/out the clothes - start simple :)
dlk30341 posted Sat, 25 November 2006 at 9:06 PM
Well I found your pic in the gallery & sad to say I have none of the items listed in you pic :(
Edit - I do have the morphing fantasy dress just not Rena's textures
Lyne posted Sat, 25 November 2006 at 9:35 PM
Well I am STILL going to do what you suggest...I do know that V3 with the character morph/skin works...she is the same one with Travis cat on her lap...so I will take her with no clothes, but the braid hair figure into vue..then if that works, each part of the clothing one at a time...now I am just really curious!!! I will not let software "win" over me! LOL!!
Sci Fi
So... the animal and SP3 worked fine!! I had a little relaxing fun with that.... I did try to bring in my "chocolate dragon"... it was the mil dragon baby with a chocolate brown shader from P6, and it came in all white with black... but I know it is because vue does not like poser's shaders or materials... I am so sure my vue is okay now, I need to find out if the server traffic has slowed so it is "safe" to buy vue 6 "beta-gamma" to play with, and also I want some of the wonderful new redwoods trees at C3d!! :)) Thanks again for your help and guidence... I will post the mystery answer if there is one, here!

I'm trying to get V3 into Vue5I with the fantasy dress - 1st try Vue crashed LOL - I need to cold boot myself! Way too many graphic programs up & down all day! The memory is totally clogged LOL.

Check and make sure that the Poser file is not saved with using external binary morph tragets checked. If it is, then the figure will import into Vue but loose all the pose/morph settings. This box is selected by default, so if you just reloaded Poser, it will be selected.
Setting is under Edit, Perferences, Misc. tab. Again, make sure Use External Binary Morph Targets is NOT selected!

The only problem I had was the :cursing: body handles for the dress came in as well. Off to hunt down the forums on how to make them go away.
Djeser posted Sun, 26 November 2006 at 4:34 AM
Debby, just make the material of the body handles invisible.

Thanks Djeser :) It's been so long since I've used an item that had them I just forgot. DOH!

I think what you did was pose V3 in a frame other than zero/one. When you import into Vue, you are importing frame 0 (default pose). All you need to do is import single frame 30 and you will have your pose intact.
I am just guessing but it is an educated guess as I chased this same problem around myself once.

Thanks, that is the FIRST thing I checked, having used poser 6 and vue for a LONG time... I have now narrowed it down to some of the particular clothing or hair...and have to test each thing on V3 to find out what caused it... I was able to open other figures/clothes pz3's when I tried those... see my latest gallery image! :))

Huh? single frame 30 ... how do I do that? I don't animate...if what you say is the reason would save a LOT of testing each item of clothing on a posed figure...

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear Lyne. I think you accidently advanced to a frame other than the first frame (little slider beneath the pose window) in Poser before you posed your character. The result of this is when you import your pz3 into Vue and select import single frame and leave it set to frame 0 (default) in the frame to import box... your character will come in with no morphs applied. What I was suggesting is to set the frame to import to frame 30 in Vue as this frame would almost certainly be beyond the frame you had set in Poser when you applied your morphs and so the character will import with all its morphs applied.
I hope this makes sense.

Looks good... glad it worked. My advice was the voice of experience. I did the same thing once and was lucky enough to discover the nuance before I flung expensive hardware across the room.
