Subject: merge 2 pictues

I want to merge 2 pictures one ontop of another both are the same size. HOW do I do this in photoshop?

Open both in Photoshop, then Click on the one you want on top and drag it over into the other picture. Then you can set your opacity so that you will be able to see both. There are other ways of doing this, but this way is the simplest to explain.

ok i guess I should have said I want to use certian things from a picture and place (overlay) then onto another picture. How do I do that?

You do a selection of those certain items on one image and  go to Edit > Copy. Using the Move Tool drag selection to other image.

did you try dreamer101 suggestion? You can also do a quickmask to "hide" the pixel you don't want in the first image and this'll let the underlying image show through...

didnt try it yet... I will try it prob this wed evening when I have time to mess with it. I really havent messed with PS alot. mainly used it to enhance photos. nothing like this yet.

IN the attached picture i am actually trying to invert the picture, make the ring the background.

Just go to your Layers palette and change order of the layers. Grab bottom layer and drag to top or drag top layer to bottom.

Very Cool. Do you plan to texture or add some color to the white areas??? It would look really neat if yoiu did!!!
