This is my first attempt at using poser and photoshop. I had some help from my fiance GeorgeD. I'm look for some feedback as to what others think of the image...things that people like or things that I could work on. Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Midgitpakled posted Tue, 28 November 2006 at 8:34 PM

well, when you ask for critiques i will respond as generally peps around here will not critique on the gallery page...seems to be an unwritten rule.
-congratulations on your new obsession; poser.
-the bed figure pose is well done, however the figure giving the punishment doesn't look like she is moving like she would if she were using a whip...shoulder and torso are not moving forward...quite passive looking.
-i'm having problems with the shadows going on there. they seems funky to me. especially the highlighted bedposts and the rest of the scene...maybe it's just me. upon a 2nd look, you have more than 1 light going on don't you? turn the other lights shadows off.
-the expressions on their faces is non-existant.
-maybe turn down the reflective value on the bedposts
lighting is everything. i think of alfred hitchcock in regards to camera angles and lighting...a master.
keep them coming and good-luck.
regards

Thanks for the imput. Actually the two figures were composited in PS as I had trouble with poser wanting to move the standing figure when I was trying to move the figure on the bed. So I guess that would expaine the issues with the lighting. Gonna have to figure out a better way to do that. Thanks again for the critique.

It is a little unfortunate that the culture here seems to be a lot more about supportive praise than real criticism.
I also have problems with the shadows ... the bed is casting shadows, but the girls aren't casting shadows at all that I can tell.
Shadow from the headboard appears to be cast from a light BEHIND the wall...
Shadow from the baseboard is cast by a light at maybe a 90 degree rotation from the headboard light, which is really, really weird, seems like you have it lit something like:
........./
..bed...
Brass on the bed is a bit too bright, you might play with whatever material you're using to get it to emit less light.
You may want to try to get the lamp to actually act like a lamp; while the image I'll put here is pretty messed up, e.g. the cloth is awful and the light's a bit green, one thing that comes across pretty well is the payoff for trying to make your light come from a real light source in the scene:

Pretty good work, certainly a lot better then my first few feeble attempts at doing a scene LOL
Anyway i think the hair of the girl on the bed is too similar to the color of the bed. Maybe change it a bit so it doesn't get lost in there ?

Thanks for the imput. It gives me lots of things to keep a look out for and to work on in my future work.

How dare you use Poser to produce soft core porn!
Just being sarcastic, sorry.
I like your picture. It's about the stage I'm at right now but I've been using poser for 2 years. So, very well done. Really like the poses the most, quite natural. And the POV.
Good to see someone use more than one prop in their scene, a rarity around here.
As you would be aware, 90% of images in the gallery are semi-nude amazons with backgrounds pasted on. Millions of props and scenes and lots of characters, and what do we get - semi-naked V3's churned out like some nightmarish sausage factory.
Don't expect many comments on your images regardless of quality, it's just the clique nature of the Renderosity gallery.
I wish you all the best and hope to see many more of your works as I have just added you to my favourite artist list.

Speaking of sausages, I'm fiddling around with M3 this very minute developing some character concepts. I'll try to improve that 90/10 split there (just as guilty myself).

Why is it that everybody's first poser image has to be a nudie? LOL, I feel like such a prude but honest to Pete! My remarks are all covered in the previous posts, so I'm just chiming in here to say ditto, and also "put some clothes on those models!" :-D

Absolutly great first render. Hard to fault, but since you asked... There seems to be a strange shadow on the cupboard, the red hair seems to close in colour to the bed spread, the elbow of the standing woman might benifit from some postwork. Way better than my first post (and probably better than my last one)!
