I believe there was one in last years Christmas Gifts here. The only other one that I know of is this one. Not sure if that's what you want.

Nice find Acadia! That's the "Round" type. There's also the ones you find in "Souvenir" shops. It's width is about 75% of it's length... That's the one i'm doing now. just need to check the UVMapping on it & it's ready to ship... :-) I'll post a preview here in a few moments. Markus
RedHawk posted Sun, 03 December 2006 at 9:35 PM
Thanks everyone. The round type is actually what I'm looking for, but with a smaller base than the one at Irenes place....... :m_thoughtful:
Kind of similar to the one in Acadia's avatar, actually. :)

There was a smaller round one from RDNA Christmas last year. Maybe the link is still up there and you can get it there?

The only one I found at RDNA is the one linked here in their store.....was this last years freebie?<-insert words of wisdom here->
Acadia posted Sun, 03 December 2006 at 10:04 PM
No. The one from their freebie had a bit taller base.
Ooops, I just looked. It also had a hampster in it, so it wasn't just a plain one.

Hmm... Just checked RDNA's one! Nice multiple bases. i just realized that the Globe Base(Glass) should either be flat or just cut out. I'll fix that now. For the Base texturing, you can just use whatever Wood tex you have on hand... So my globes will be textureless. But, UVMapped! Anyhow, i'm offline in 30 minutes. If i don't get your email by then, i'll send them first thing in the morning... Later! Markus

The globe is nice in that... it can be used empty or with the falling snow bits and the ground snow has morphs. The snowman comes seperate.

Ooooh! Nice one Ziggie! Didn't think about the SnowFlakes! Doh! Don't know who NWS is either. Unless it stands for NetherWorks? Markus
Fyrene posted Mon, 04 December 2006 at 12:35 AM
I think NWS is Netherworks Studios??

Just checked my Geometries folder... the globe I posted was by Netherworks...
Just checked through their site, but couldn't find it. I think it was a freebie a year or 2 ago.

Ah! So, it is NetherWorks! Checked the FS here & at his site, but no Globe... :-( Thanks Fyrene! I wouldn't call this modeling. More like 'Doodling'.. :-O Anyways, i might refine them & add a few details & pop them to the FS section later. The least i can do for such a wonderful community. ;-) Dolce Sogno! Markus
Fyrene posted Mon, 04 December 2006 at 12:53 AM
Yup. I went and checked NWS site too. It has completely changed!!!!
Looking forward to your snowglobes :)

Quote - Yep, you can have both! here's a quickie of the round one. is the base Ok for you? i can change it's heigth easily. If that suits your needs, then i'll have both ready in 25 minutes for Poser. Just message me with your email. And i shall send them your way! Markus p.s.: I didn't go easy on the polyCount, cause i usually like my stuff hi-Res for CloseUps. How would you like them? Lo, Med or Hi? :-))
any chance of making these available to everyone ... they are great ... gee I wish I was talented and could make them .. but I dont have an idea where to even start Sheila
DRACONIAN posted Mon, 04 December 2006 at 9:42 AM
Sheila, it's a defenite possibility! As sson as i'm happy with the finals, i'll look for a host(Maybe Planit3D), since they already have my Boxing stuff there. They are easier to do then you think. I just drew a Spline(Line with control points) that makes half the shape of it, then i simply droped it in a "lathe object"(Lathe is simply a process of revolving a shape around an axis, can be any angle between 1 & 360 degrees) & i can tell also how many "cross sections" to use, to have different resolutions... So, talent has nothing to do with it, just experience with all the 3D tools available to me... ;-) Actually, you could make them in poser by just using a Sphere & a cylinder & a bit of creative use of Magnets... Dos anyone remember a cool freebie(Maybe) of paticles, that had different alpha maps included to make anything from petals to sparkles??? Anyways, RedHawk it's in your MailBox! Later, Markus

That is Very nice..! I love the glass..! I doubt that was rendered in Poser..? If so... how on Earth did you get the glass to look like that..?
"You don't have to be mad to use Poser... but it helps"
DRACONIAN posted Mon, 04 December 2006 at 1:49 PM
Ziggie, Rendered in C4D with one SpotLite. But, you can get similar results in poser5+ The trick to Glass or any shinny surface is 2fold: Lite placement & environment map. For anything like Glass & Car paint i use a simple BW Map made of white Circles & squares on Black. It makes for pretty cool effects. Another trick one can use in case of ice or Glass Globes is to have them illuminated from the inside instead... Just restrict the lite's effect to the glass only. Just noticed a flaw in this render, there should be a thin ouline shadow of the glass projecting on the floor. hmmm.... I think the thickness of the glass is not enough. I will remedy that before i pack the final files. Anyhow, i'm off to work! Ciaos! Markus
ziggie posted Mon, 04 December 2006 at 1:54 PM
Thanks for the info Draconian.
BTW... the glass shadow is showing in that pic... down in the left hand corner...

See, Ziggie! P4 render & looks great! :-) Well, i won't compete with Traveler. So, i won't include the multiple bases & they come untextured. But, are easy to texture. They do however have the front "Plaque" for adding a text or logo... ;-) The flakes will simply be single polys floating about. BTW, Ziggie! Love your Nick! Anything to do with Z... Stardust? Bonne Soiree a tous! Markus

No, nothing to do with that Ziggy, although I do love everything Bowie has done. Not so keen on his knives though.
Mine was due to unconventional (read insane) parents who named their kids starting at the back of the Baby Names book.
