When I try to export from P7 in 3DS format, it's impossible to load in Max 9 : "improper file format"?
Does anyone know the reason? It seems strange that P7 isn't compatible with max 9.

As far as I experienced, P6 couldn't export to 3ds Max either (guess they didn't fix it).

I always export to .obj format and that works fine in max 9. I found long ago that the .3ds format was never worth using.

You have to use .obj format, and if you're going to make clothes, garment maker doesn't seem to like working on such a small scale so you will need to scale up the model one way or another... at least that's what I've found.
Though I've never tried this because I don't have it, the 3ds format is probably for old/retired versions of 3DS (probably 3D Studio 6 and below).

The 3DS files from Poser appear to be 3DS version 4 format.

The obj format works well, you just need to rescale it. The only pb is the memory needed. I export sidney g2 with the formal dress and hair, max9 hasn't been able to render it (blocked at 2Go of required memory).
But we could expect poser to export at the up to date 3DS format. For information I tried on an old version (3.1) and it didn't work. May be the 4 was the good.
