Happy New Year. I know what some of you look like but who has a photo of themselves in 2007?

bobbystahr posted Tue, 02 January 2007 at 9:40 AM

that's me to the left...LOL

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

Valerie - yes it was just on the grass between the lake with the fountain and some old building which i think was a pump room or something (you can see it in the photo)... We were having a picnic under those tall trees 😄

Here's a link to a photo my 15-year-old daughter took of me on New Year's Day, and it's been "artsified" a bit. It printed out to a nice 13-by-19-inch photo that I'm going to frame and put up in my office:

www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php

Not trying to get cheap views of my gallery or anything -- although the 2D music category is pretty dad-gummed quiet --, but my daughter sure would not mind you guys stopping by to look at the image. :)

(Is that sort of like Columbo getting an autograph from a star and saying, "it's not for me; it's for my wife"?)

Seriously, though, you'd make my daughter's day ...

I didn't know you played the guitar bobbystahr. Valerie...it's not snowing in Sevilla is it? Two Pynts...that's a really nice family tree. Piet, oh dear I still haven't thrown away my camera.

*EDIT
couldn't help myself, I edited the spelling of my name as I got caled that a lot as a child and it freaks me to see it in type....LOL...that's 2 b's and 1 o....heh heh heh

@  Oscilis, no it's Sierra Nevada, one big mountain what I have at 3 hours in car.

@ Bobby : yes, it's a really nice picture on you, I know this one and I like....

TwoPynts posted Thu, 04 January 2007 at 9:17 AM

Cool images Waldo and Bobby...I like the artsy treatments. :) Valou, the tree itself takes over an hour to set up, and the ornaments, well, probably another 2-3 hours, depending on how much the kids "help." :)

It makes me wonder why people choose the screen names they have. Mine is taken from the Latin name of a village where I lived for many years.

3DGuy posted Sun, 07 January 2007 at 7:49 AM

The screenname I use here is ancient (in internet terms). I took it when I was very active on the 3D Studio newsgroups which was close to 10 years ago I guess. I needed a nickname, I was doing 3D modeling and I'm a guy. Not much creativity there huh

comes from the arabic word which means "god willing" and technically should be tanscribed as being insh'allah as far as i know - a word i picked up after living in Oman from when i was 0 til 7 years old and travelling back and forth until i was about 16 because my dad still worked there.  Used it on the first email i had (rocketmail - anyone remember that?! 😉) and now it is my username on pretty much everything which requires one. And scarily enough (i just did this to check the transcription), if you type in "inshaala" into google - at least on mine - every page that comes up is something related to me using the username on the net!! :-S

Scarily true. Same goes for "TwoPynts" -- more info that I'd like actually, especially with that "Poop Report" page coming up. I swear, I only visited that site once or twice and did a review of a certain type of toilet paper. And that was YEARS ago! ;'P

It is scary when you google your own name! It's even scarier when you google your teenage child's name!!!

Margana posted Wed, 10 January 2007 at 9:09 AM

The poop report? LMAO! Gives Mr. 'D'  new meaning, huh, Kortalouche? :tongue1:

I too, am always curious about where people get their screen names. Mine is really geeky. I mean really geeky. I adore Guardian crosswords...and I was doing one when I came up with it...Margana is an anagram of...sigh...anagram.

See? I told you it was geeky... 😊

This is a self portrait that I took with my iMac webcam and the Photobooth capture software... no postwork, I swear..! Some of you thought that my nickname had a feminine touch... Well, on the contrary, Giraldo Sem Pavor was a fearless ancient Portuguese warrior and ruler, nah..!! There's a square in the ancient city of Evora called "Pra do Giraldo Sem Pavor"... when I walked over that square in 1983, I knew what my nickname had to be. By the way, Giraldo Sem Pavor literally means 'Geert Without Fear'... (and not 'Geert Without Head') ;o))

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?
