What are the texture files in poser called? (poser6)
Where are they located?
How do I open them with PScs2?
Do I need a plug in?
If so what is it called.
I want to edit some tan lines on a texture/character that I found and like now (for V3). As well as a face texture for V3.

PC or Mac? On the PC they are in you Poser home directory (e.g. C:Program Filese frontierPoserRuntimeTextures) and then in some directory determined by whoever designed the textures you're working with.
The best way to know for sure is to view the text of the MAT pose that loads the textures you like.
They will just be .JPG files that you can edit normally with PhotoShop, although you probably want to make a backup copy of any files you want to modify before you do anything.

You'll be needing to become familiar with the Material Room. From there you can see the exact address of each texture that is applied to your figure.
Else, you can DL the Free P3DO Explorer(like Windows Explorer) and lick on the .CR2 you're thinking of.
Either way once you've located the texture, you'd do best to create a folder, named "Originals," in that same directory, and put a copy of the texture you're interested with in there. This way you can just open and save over the texture where it is, without needing to change it's location in Poser. Then if thins go haywire, you can just drag a copy of that Original into it's above directory, and overwrite.
Another note, once you save your new texture, you'll need make sure Render > Reload Texture > Keep Textures Loaded is'n checked. Then you can click Render > Reload Textures, and the changes you made in Photoshop will show up in Poser, on the fly(Without needing to restart either application.
BTW - It' easier to use Reload Textures from the Render Panel vs. the Document Window. At the document window you'll then need to wait while the textures are immediately loaded. From the Render Window, you can then use the Plop Render/Render and the changes will load during the render.

It is a good idea to make sure you are properly grounded before attempting that.

Yes, opening the .PZ3, .CR2, etc, in a text editor and recognizing the part/texture references would work, but that's tough.
More proper recognizing things from in the MAterial Room, would also probably be most useful.
But, by clicking on a file in P3DO Explorer, you can view all of the files/address(Geometries, textures, props.
If you were in Pbooost II, you could clik on the .CR2, like Windows Explorer, then actually move it and all of it's required Poser files, together...That is hugee pain with just Poser.

P3dO pro has this too, it's called Scene Manager and is a addon to the Tree viewing .
Scene Manager display all the files belonging to the Poser file in a thumbnail view then it is easy to rename, edit, copy any of them or the whole.
