I remember bringing up the fact how annoying it is that the *dead * links are showing up when you search .I also know that several people have asked about my old products .If the whole reason we had the deleting and warehousing old products was to save bandwidth /store area ,when why are they still there and showing up? (other than they dont get advertising rotation)

Yes, that's the "reason" but the reality is that even the files stay, just in case a customer needs a reset. So old "removed" files are still taking bandwidth, both with pages/images and the zip files.
