Has anyone here from Canada ever ordered a physical shipment of Poser (any version).
The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of ordering Poser 7 and I am thinking I want to go with a physical shipment this time instead of the electronic download... the download is kind of a hassel.
Anyway, I am concerned about getting dinged at the door for all kinds of fees by the shipping company like I did when I ordered the "Poser 5 Demystified" from 3-Axis a few years ago. The course cost $69 USD and UPS wanted an additional $48 CAD at my door for brokerage fees, duty and taxes!! Another time I ordered a new stethescope from a US company and UPS tried to collect $96.00 CAD at my door for brokerage and other fees. Needless to say I refused shipment of the stethescope!!!!
For those in Canada, can you tell me what your experience has been with receiving the Poser physical shipments.
How much did UPS ding you for?
If you went with USPS, did you get asked for more money at the door for brokerage and other fees?

Hi,
I'm a new Poser user and when I ordered Poser I downloaded it and also ordered a hard copy. This was not a boxed set but a back up of my download on CD. I turned this into auto start up CD.
The CD and download comes with everything to do this except the manuals you would get with the box set. The manuals are included with the CD and download. Print them out or order them at a book store like I did.
The CD comes by land mail just like any other mail you would get, postage paid. No hidden costs,
nothing, just your copy of Poser.
I'm sure, with no doubt that you would be charged if you buy the box set. Do not do this unless you feel very rich.
I live in Vancouver BC, Can.
I hope this helps.

Acadia,
I live in Port Hope, Ontario, and I ordered the Poser 7 SE physical shipment. It was shipped by
UPS. I had no charges or any other fees. He just placed it between the screen door and front
door, knocked, and then left. :)

Acadia,
I would check with your post office and customs. I had to pay for an I-Pod that my son owned and paid for here in Can, he goes to school in the US and I was shipping it to him. Customs did not care and I had to pay even after I told them the situation. I do not know what the rules are from one part of the country to the other. I could be wrong and Greywolf could be right about his area.

Hi Acadia; I got a physical version of P7 about a month ago and did not get slammed by UPS.... this time. As a rule I do not like UPS as their brokerage fees seem to vary wildly and prefer Fed-ex as their brokerage is done internally. I was expecting a hit but was presently surprised when I went to the post office to pick it up and asked what I owed. She told me to give her a smile and I would be free to go. So I did. Cambridge Ontario area here.

I've ordered physical copies of both 5 and 6 and have never been dinged...but there has been occasions when I have with other products. Once I bought a program for $250 and the customs charges, handling fees and mailing came to $75 so I sent it back.
UPS charges alot from what I remember but Fed-ex is much better. I live in the Niagara area.
You may get it sqeezed between your door but sometimes you will get a letter from private customs carrier that you owe a wad.
Try to find out ahead of time who the carrier will be and the duty, etc.

I think I'm going to email UPS and provide them with a link to the Poser 7 program and insist that they tell me if I will be subject to brokerage fees, duty, COD charges (to collect their fee) and taxes.
I live in an apartment so there is no "putting it between the doors", and the only 2 times I've had things delivered by UPS they wanted gobs of money upon delivery. Plus I often see a tag stuck to the front entrance door for someone from UPS indicating attempted delivery and the amount that they are to collect upon delivery.
Maybe Ontario is different for some reason, but it seems in Manitoba UPS dings us.
So for peace of mind I think I'll write and ask beforehand so there are no surprises. I may end up settling for the download version again.

Nunavut, here. Received all the Posers, 4 through 7, by physical shipment (as well as Vue).
As to additional fees, since couriers don't deliver where I live (some say they do, but they don't), everything arrives by Canada Post which means I usually just have it shipped USPS. Whether I get dinged by additional fees often seems like it depends on who is working the customs desk that day.
