I was finally stopped the other day while at Costco. I was taking pictures of the lights in the ceiling and an employee came up to me and asked me to stop, citing photography and videography was not allowed within the store. I shrugged, took my purchases, and left. :) I'm glad they did not try to make me erase my memory card, though the photos didn't really turn out that good anyway, haha.

I have never had the nerve do to photo's in places like that.  Last month I was plucking up courage to take some photo's in an amusement arcade.  The ones with all the slot machines in etc. But  security would not let me even enter with my camera, so that was that

If in doubt, I ask permission.  And, I do try not to be an "in your face" sort of photographer.

Asking does help...for instance, at one exhibit the sign said "no flash photography" so no one was taking pictures. I asked if with out flash was ok and was told, "yes".

Great info with those links! Also, as photographers, consider Artist Rights.  When photographing a sculpture or an art piece, you need to obtain permission to post, print, or otherwise display.
Many here do not know that.  What is a great pic can turn into a lawsuit.

O yes Kurt you are right. I always ask if I can take a shot from a person....dog...... or something I like and have my doubts about it..... And will sent them a copy of it as well. I always ask if I can have permission to post it as well
