Hey,
I'm brand new to Poser 7, having jumped straight from P5. So far I really love it! I started playing around with depth of field and I like the effect, but my main subject is not sharp. I've tried the included manual, but its no help. How do you set up depth of field? It seems to be set up in feet, but how do I know how many feet away my subject is? It seems like it would be more logical to set depth of field based on Z scale. Any help appreciated.

There was a thread covering this about two weeks ago.

see trekkie's tutorial. I dunno if dof in P7 is the same as in P6, but some folks are saying dof is crashing P7.Renderholic posted Sun, 28 January 2007 at 7:12 PM
Thanks for the help. I did check the forum but didn't see anything about depth of field, but maybe I didn't look back far enough. Also thanks Miss Nancy, I'm going to check out the tutorial now.

The depth of field is a nice touch, but can look horribly unrealistic if not rendered at a high enough level.
It also looks great in animations, as you can animate the 'camera' settings also, to change focal point mid animation.
Oh, and be prepared for a loooong wait while rendering.
If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards...checkmate!

I haven't had any DOF related crashes that I know of. I definitely think it's an improvement over P6...
