I wanted to start making some comic strips using Poser to post online so I bought Planetwide Games Comic Book Creator. Unfortunately the software went bonkers on me Saturday. It essentially highjacked my computer and kept trying to reinstall itself. It wouldn't immediately uninstall either. I had just scanned my computer for viruses and spyware just prior to this happening. I thought that the Adaware had removed one of it's key files by accident, so I restored the files it took out but there was no change. After Comic Book Creator was uninstalled my computer ran fine.
Besides Manga Studio does anyone know of any other comic creation software I might use? I have Photoshop, should I just create my own pages in it instead? Would a program like Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator be best for this type of thing?

If your having that reaction after purchasing, definately go back to place of purchase, and take it up with them! That should not be happening, at all! Did you purchase it from the regular distribtor, or say a used copy someplace off like ebay? The reason I ask is you have to be careful, as recently I purchased a "resale" MP3 player and the software it came with to load to use it set my AVG off for nearly an hour before i could get it all back off.
Comic Book Creator, from what I understand is an excellent program for doing just what the program says. Definately seek that whom you purchased it from.

There's Comic Life Deluxe but it's only for Mac...
You might want to take a look at this tutorial page, but it's more of a manual approach.

That is really weird, I've had CBC installed for quite a while and it's never given me any trouble!
I'd be interested to know what caused this!

I bought it here, but Planet Wide Games website says they offer a 30 day money back gaurantee. Perhaps I should contact customer service here. I haven't received a reply from Planet Wide. I am tempted to try to reinstall it, but after a frenzied hour of trying to restore my system I had night mare of a complete reinstallation of Windows. I've never had any other application do anything like this before, I got a box that said "Please wait while Comic Book Creator configures Windows" over and over. I'm very dissapointed as I really wanted to use the software.

I would definately return it then, and explain to them your problem.

You are using an older version. Newer one fixed that bug (I had it and now disappeared, my current CBC version is 1.1.32). Download it again and re-install it
CBC is perfect for me; take a view at a page of my comic book story published at Renderotica Magazine (all CBC but the frame and sign)

I bought the CD here at Renderosity, I'm not sure if my unlocking code will work with a newer version. I'll check their website again for a patch--perhaps I missed it. I did email them, but they haven't responded :(.

I'm using PagePlus for comic creation. I do find Manga Studio, Comic Creator and so on to limited for me. PagePlus has all the balloons I do need, but has lot;s and lot's more good effect options available and can output the comic in many formats, even PDF/X formats, so you can take your work to a printer without a problem.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

I'll definitely look into PagePlus!
If I can get Comic Book Creator to function properly I will use that, Planet Wide Games have yet to respond to my email. If it is a known bug that I had there should be some information on their web site and they should withdraw the old CDs from the market and print up new ones or provide a FAQs on their site (neither of which they have done). I will try downloading and using my CD code and see if it makes a difference.
