Was this problem fixed in the latest update???
Yes I know it might be a Poser issue rather than a Vue one, but I was just wondering if any of you that had major problems with this have seen an improvement yet!!

Yes, the problem is on e-frontier side, this time, they changed the way the pz3 is written, and some items are missing when imported in Vue. I think e-on is waiting for a correction form e-frontier, and will include it in a future update.

I posted an image today that initially didn't import the Hair on my M3 figure or the nest, so I did my usual and ran the uncompress python script and the second time it imported it properly, strange.
I still don't get it!!!

May have been a coincidence. A friend told me (haven't tried it yet) that they import their poser scene into vue 5, save it and then open it in vue 6 and supposedly it comes in fine. Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!

Just curious here, I asked this in a post in the Poser forum recently. Is there a difference with Vue 6 Inf & Esprit regarding Poser imports, I can't think that there would be? I have Esprit & haven't yet come across any problems importing Poser items from Poser 7. Or have I just been lucky so far!!
BTW, I have my files uncompressed.
thefixer posted Wed, 31 January 2007 at 10:40 AM Online Now!
I think you've prolly been lucky so far!!
It happened again this morning, Koji G2 and MOST of his armour came in but not other parts of his armour that were props as opposed to figures!!
Now this is the odd part, my P6 and 7 runtimes are both uncompressed, I do it as a matter of course each time i put new stuff in there!
Now when Koji's armour didn't come in, I ran the uncompress python script again on both runtimes as I am using my P6 runtime in P7 as a multiple runtime for now until I migrate everything over to P7 which isn't going to be soon with all these problems, anyway after running the script again, his armour props came into Vue6Inf ok, Yea I know beats the shit out of me why too!!!
Now apparently, others here that have tried this "trick" haven't been successful with it so why it works for me and not others is a mystery!!

After the latest vue update my poser imports are working, Don't see how its a EF thing if a vue update fixed it, but I'm just happy its working. I was hesitant about updating vue because I read some bad reports, but man am I happy I updated because my vue is working great. As far as I know there has been no P7 update. However, I did uninstall P6 and have only P5 & P7 on my system. I don't know for sure if it was the update or the uninstalling of P6 that caused the goodness. I bet it was the update.
thefixer posted Wed, 31 January 2007 at 11:47 AM Online Now!
The latest update has done nothing to alleviate this problem for me, P6 imports work fine but not 7 unless I piss about with the uncompressing thing so it's back to using P6 for me until one or the other fixes this import issue between P7 and Vue6Inf!!
I'm happy that it works for you though, I really am!!

CobraEye - Bodges and Workrounds on other peoples data formats have been a feature of the computer industry ever since someone suggested interoperability was a good thing. Companies do them because they want to help their customers...**

Impish, what are you talking about... to inspire such a response? I never implied that I didn't think what you just wrote.
All I know from what I tested and from what I've changed is that it is working. Most likely it is the update or the uninstalling of P6. :-)
I'll continue testing with other figures to see if I run into any problems. Some of the other figures may cause problems.
thefixer posted Wed, 31 January 2007 at 2:42 PM Online Now!
My issues seem more to do with props than figures; figures, be they actual peeps or clothing seem to get through cyberspace ok but props!! Well they're another thing [LOL].

Yep, my figures come in fine too, and with small scenes or maybe randomly, also the props but mostly the props do not import. Love esther

"Don't see how its a EF thing if a vue update fixed it".
Sorry I'm a bit techy I'd have hit delete on that rather than post it or tried to put a better explanation. My left eye looks like something out of a horror film and all the doctor could tell me after 4 hours was "it happens sometimes can't explain why".
CobraEye posted Wed, 31 January 2007 at 11:18 PM
Good luck with your eye. I have very sensitive eyes and can easily relate to eye problems.
If anyone has a specific prop or item that doesn't import I would be interested in trying to see if it works on my end.
Right now I am just fooling around & seeing where my fancy takes me. There are a lot of interesting things to try in P7 & V6, and the combinations are infinite.

Here's one example of something that won't import. The saphire fox hair (hair prop) Love esther

CobraEye posted Thu, 01 February 2007 at 4:39 PM
Not sure what prop you are talking about. Is it the Shag Mop in P7?
I loaded 3 figures and over 20 props and everything came in fine.
I am still interested in trying fox hair if you tell me where exactly it is.

If an object is not importing, it is because Poser 7 is writing relative paths to the directories in the PZ3 file.
All you need to do is go into the PZ3 with wordpad and type in the full from the drive letter the whole path to the object, where it is called.
It is something that Poser 7 is doing, that 6 was not doing. Whether or not Vue can handle it(say with its own patch) does not mean that the problem did not come from Poser/EF in the first place.
Just hit >>Edit >>Find type in obj >>enter, and it will find all the obj calls in the PZ3 for you. Just edit and save it. It is a workaround, but it works.
And I have not seen a pattern as to when it wants to write the full absolute path name, or the relative path...I see no pattern. Some stuff comes in, some stuff does not.

Oh no, it's happened, I've had my first major problem with a Poser 7 import & Vue! This is a little strange actually but I'm annoyed as hell as it's ruined my render which is many many hours into. I imported the Grace Lion hair which was fine & after having set up my scene hit render as usual. Well, after many hours into the render, which I save regularly & resume render in case of problems, Vue stopped responding. No big problem I thought, I can restart the computer & resume the render. Well, the render resumed but now the hair has lost it's material, it's now just black! Does anyone know what I can do here, if the hair imported with the material why is it now lost? I can do some postwork on this to make it look OK but I just feel deflated that it might not turn out how I expected. The render will be over soon, I may post what has happened.

estherau - Thanks for the reply, do I need to convert the jpg as I don't seem to be able to import the texture?
wabe posted Tue, 06 February 2007 at 3:06 PM
What options for the import have you used? Could it be that you used the Poser shader option? And in the crash this got lost. But important as well is maybe what Vue version you are using. So, what Vue version do you use?
One day your ship comes in - but you're at the airport.
stormchaser posted Tue, 06 February 2007 at 4:26 PM
Wabe - Yes, I used the Poser shader option, this is the first time it's given me a problem. I am using Vue 6 Esprit, I haven't updated it yet.
Anyway, I've sorted it out now with postwork, so there's no need for me to have a tantrum!

I love it. Was the top she is wearing made dynamic in the cloth room or did it come modeled with all those folds. That's V3 isn't it? The hair looks just great. BTW that pic would be an excellent cover for a novel. Well done. Love esther

stormchaser posted Wed, 07 February 2007 at 5:45 AM
estherau - Thanks.
The top is Fawne's from orion1167 & xv3d. I had to morph it to fit my new character (unnamed at the moment) & I gave the top a low cut so it would be more dynamic with the folds, not just for added cleavage!
My character is V3 but her face was made by heavily morphing the base V3 New Generation 2. I have now worked out how to morph with this base figure & import the morphs into V3 SAE. This gives me even more versatility when creating characters.
