A friend of mine asked me this question the other day I know there is a plug in for 3ds max to import MQO files into 3dsmax but what about other programs such as lightwave,shade,cinema4d,maya, ect is it possible to import those files types into those programs as well or have plugins to do so?
Second question if you import a mqo file into one of the above mentioned programs then you could export them into say another program like Poser to use as well right?
Thanks for any answers you might have.

Try Exporting as a Cob if you have the freeware version. If you have the full version then export as a OBJ out of Metasequioa. Crossroads is a program that can convert a COB to another format google it.

Just want to make sure I understand before I relay the info on to my friend?

Right export as a COB file. That is truspace format but it can export as that and crossroads can convert to OBJ which is a bit mroe universal. Bryce can import cob files. Here is a link even. That is what I used to do until I switched to wings. The wit of a misplaced ex-patriot.
