Hi All
I just updated to Win Vista and installed Poser 7.  I've also installed Victoria 4 and the Morph packs.  This includes the V4 -> V3 stuff.

My question though is this....
I have quite a few character sets for V3.  A lot of which depended on the Morph packs for V3 (Body and Head Morphs).  Does anyone know if I need to install V3 and her Morphs (and make a right mess of my Pose folder too) or can I get away with just V4?

Also does anyone know how the magnetise clothing stuff works for V4?
I'm a little scratchy on that part.

The V40V3 figure is simply the V4 mesh reshaped into the V3 shape, so that you can put the old V3 wardrobe on her. You can't morph her body at all (don't know about the head, since that remains in V4's shape). So if yo want to use all those characters, you'd better install V3 as well.

"Also does anyone know how the magnetise clothing stuff works for V4" It adds Joint Control Morphs to the clothing.......instead of actual morphs being used for JCM DAZ now use magnets, the pose file adds those magnets to the clothing. I won't add any body morphs to the clothes those must be created the same old fashioned way.........Steve

You can inject the V3 clothing morphs form Netherworks into the V4toV3 figure and use the cloths for V3 on the that figure as normal with some tweeking in most cases.

Or Buy Wardrobe Wizards from Philc

and buy Netherworks V4 clothing morphs and convert your V3 cloths to V4 then inject the netherworks V4 clothing morphs and away you go.

starmage - To answer your question, no.  V4 was'nt created to use V3 stuff.  For the Lion's Share you will need to install both, V4 and all her Morphs, Textures, etc; and then V3, with all her morphs, textures, etc., etc.

The V4-V3 character is the work around, you're all correct to point to this, but what it is exactly is V4's Head on V3's Body.  So, you can use all of the V4 Head Stuff, and then all your V3 Body stuff, but not vs versa.  It's there so you can start development of V4's Head(Magnets...,) but continue to use clothing/morphs from V3.

Daz3D does this all the time, whenever they completely revamp a character, to the point where the morphs are no longer compatible.   V3 had a V3-V2, M3 has a M3-M2, I believe Stephanie has an S3-S1, etc.

Thanks guys
Not exactly what I wanted to hear but oh well :(

Guess I'm going to have to stuff up my Pose folder with all those dang Daz morphs.  Worth it though for some of the incredible characters available for V3.

If that's your only concern I think you have a couple options:

I think the V3 Head/Body morph pack comes with a .CR2 that is all pre-Injected.  It's the V3 SAE figure.

If not, Load/install the V3 Morphs into their own Runtime, and switch to it.  Then load a V3 .CR2 with all of the Head and Body morphs.  Once this is done if save the .CR2, and .PZ3, you wo'nt need that runtime again.

Then INJ files will just set morphs for you.  And you could use something like SVDL's Free Remove Morphs.py to clear out the MTs that were'nt reset(Are at zero.)

Hope this is better news!

I have V3 Next Gen.
I think that's the one that actually comes with all the morphs pre loaded?

I'm not sure.  I have a Victoria SAE, and a Victoria 3 MM(The one that says "+250" on it,) but they are only 5MB and 200K.

Conversely, the Blank V3.CR2, that I actually injected witth all of Daz's morphs, is about 50MB?

The V4 head on V3 body does not accept any V3 moprhingof the body. It's jsut a plain V3. No one uses an unmorphed V3 body so thus it is pretty useless. The body can't morph. Just thought I'd point this out to aviod any misunderstandings. Love esther

Thanks, I hav'nt used it, and was wondering why people made it a specific point to tell me the body was for V3 clothing!

estherau posted Sat, 17 February 2007 at 9:53 PM

Yes, it's very sad. Of course I tried to inject the V3 morphs into the body but it didn't work. If we want a V4 head on a morphing V3 body we will somehow have to make our own. Love esther

You can use the netherworks V3 clothing morphs to inject into the V4 to V3 body these work fine.

I have tried them, Rowlando

Ok so....
Ummm if I install V3 New Gen can I get away with just using that instead of installing all the head and body morphs  and V3 SAE?

Won't you want all those other morphs available to you if you need them later though to make a different character eg muscular or tone increased or whatever? You'll still need V3 SAE too. Love esther

I thought V3 New Gen came with all the morphs preloaded into it?

you could be right. I can't remember if I've got it but I never tried it. I had a feeling it was only head morphs but you would have to check the product info to see. Love esther

I have V3 New Generation 2. She comes with a load of different morphs to V3 SAE. I have my V3 figure loaded with morphs from NG2 & SAE, this gives me loads of morphs to play with! My main need for NG2 is the extra morphs for the face & the better use of the hips. My latest character 'Ren' was done with this combined figure. I also have the Natural Gravity Morphs installed in her for even more versatility. I found that you couldn't install NGM straight into NG2 so I had to create my own injection to counter this.
