So what program does everyone here use for getting there images off og their cards? I'm looking for somthing new that whay I am asking.

I use a basic card reader to bring up the images list in "my computer", copy and save to a temp image file in documents. Then to take a quick look at jpg I simply open with one of the Windows viewers, decide what really needs deletion and note that. For raw, I open the temp image file in RawShooter and take a quick look and maybe do a few corrrections, saved where I want it along with the original.
Final work is done in Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro saved with the originals in the suitable document file. For many images, I make a folder and save "unedited" and software processed in separate subfolders. *No special software is used to upload from the camera card, just the card reader.
I have discovered too many "temp" image folders..I forget to go back and empty those or to simply cut and paste to a permanent folder. : )

I insert the CF card into a Sandisk card reader. (Apple) Aperture automatically opens, I then import all the photos to my computer.

I'm with Tom and Rad on this one....into the card reader...then into the PC.
That way you don't tie up your camera while offloading the card....or drain your cams batteries.

Draining batteries can be a significant issue with some cameras. After a few tries with my first digital p&s with manual options and a whopping 4mp, I got a card reader. That makes it really easy if you have a place to put the images when the card is read.
My method is simple to upload...but I got into my method of workflow, too. Sorry, that was not the issure in this thread. There are likely easier ways.
Still, I would not go back to upload from camera. Also, with some cameras and cards, if you delete an image from the card via the computer, the cards can do funny things. So, all my in-card deletes are done with the camera, generally a format when the care info is all saved and backup made.

@Tom....interesting...I know there was a thread about computer deletes in the past.
But, I've ALWAYS deleted the images on the card via the computer....I never reformat the card....never, ever had a problem....
Using Sandisk Ultra's with my D70....

Maybe I should try again, since the equipment is the same but different card, mostly Delfin and a couple of SandiskUltras. Messed up once or twice and I was hesitant to try again. Other images on the card were not affected but deletes were not complete or seen on the card as deleted.

Tom, do you mean Delkin & not Delfin?

You got it...I was spelling from memory, not a good idea from this mind. The cards work well for me, fast and reliable. SanDisk does to...using high speed cards.
I will start a thread now on deleting from computer or delete in cam or format...see what is said.

I use Digital Pro for taking the images off the card. It provides almost everything I need to keep track of images, I find it much better for my use than Adobes Lightroom for cataloging and tracking, and it allows for transferring images taken in the field to my main pc.
