I have lots of old negatives, both B/W and colored. The prints are all faded and yellow. Is there some software or hardware available so that I can scan these negatives into my computer and print them out later. It would cost a fortune to get them all made into prints. Any help will be much appreciated.

My scanner has a transparency adapter that I use on the rare occasion I need to scan a negative. They have dedicated negative scanners, which sounds like what you need, but they can be pricey. They usually come with software to convert them from negative to positive image. You can bring these negatives to a photolab and ask that they scan them and put them on a CD for you. Cost..? Maybe $10 per CD. You can choose normal consumer quality or really good quality... First time maybe you can ask one of each quality to see what suits you best. If you want to do it yourself, there are fairly cheap scanners ($100, with software) that let you do the job, but to get good results you'll need a dedicated slide or negative scanner that can easily cost more than $500... Thanks so much for your answers. I will check out each site and the products before I buy. I think having a scanner would be a good investment as I have tons of negatives and so do others in my family.
