I see the guy stole one of Aery_Soul's promo images, not cool.  Some other obvious thefts that I don't recognize the artists for, but clearly promo images from here.

I did not think that auction was legal in the first place but stealing someones images to sell information on a program is just disgraceful!

drifterlee posted Tue, 06 March 2007 at 10:53 PM

he must be selling copies of Poser. Why else would he use those images?

LadyElf posted Tue, 06 March 2007 at 11:05 PM

He's not selling copies of Poser.  What he is doing is selling a text file with information on where to get tutorials, the software (Poser) etc.

So, what you are bidding on is a file that tells you where to buy the stuff.

The images that he has stolen (because he has) came from here, and he's duping people into buying links etc.....

What is so sad about this is, that some people actually will pay him for information you can get for free.

That's pathetic.

pjz99 posted Tue, 06 March 2007 at 11:12 PM

Was trying to go through the MP here and place some of the other images (particularly the pale blonde at the bottom) but I couldn't locate them out of the first 50 pages of V3 content ... :(

Messaged Aery_Soul about it.  If anyone recognizes the other two obvious thefts it would be a good idea to message their owners.

I think I saw danae's Manhattan, Milan. he does say "Picture like these". I think he still needs permission, doesn't he?

Jumpstartme2 posted Tue, 06 March 2007 at 11:55 PM

Someone needs to get a hold of the copyright holders of those images, and have them report the auction..I notice he starts off a notice to Ebay stating that he's not violating any of Ebay's policies..

There is a link at the very bottom to report it....

Funny this guy has high feedback points...😕

I think some people are just stupid. I'm not excusing this person. But I once used a small picture of Elvis Presley in a render and figured it was alright because he was dead. I once worked for a newspaper (I am a retired editor) where they said "Any image posted on the web is up for grabs" That's people's attitudes. They need to be made aware of copyright laws.

Jumpstartme2 posted Wed, 07 March 2007 at 12:11 AM

This guy is actually saying he did all those images himself...guh..the nerve of some people..and if you read some of the comments left..he is indeed selling links/lists or links to Poser and other software.....and people are paying 5 bucks for this list??

Right? I think we're in the wrong line of business...we should all get some of our images together as promo's, make a list of all the programs we used to make the images, get the links together where we bought the programs, and make a list to sell too

Years ago, when comic books were in every drug store, a guy that worked with my husband took out an ad in a comic book, it said: "Kids, make money! Send $2.00 to find out how!"

He sent them a list  of how to  rake leaves, shovel snow, etc.!!! LOL!

Jumpstartme2 posted Wed, 07 March 2007 at 2:16 AM

LOL That reminds me of that chain letter type thing that goes around the net sometimes....you have a list of people who agree to be on a mailing list, and you pick a few to send $1.00 to..then request all the others that you send to to do the same and remove one name from the top, and replace it with their own....supposed to make tons of money that way.....funny thing tho, I got a couple of those chain letters before, but strangely I didnt get one with a dollar in it

I will agree this is borderline sleazy, and stealing somebody else's promo images is probably illegal.

But what's inherently wrong with selling information? Even information people can get for free? There's labor involved in "harvesting" free info, filtering it and aggregating it in a way that makes sense, and people will pay for the service.

There are lots of people and even whole companies who make their business repackaging free information.

drifterlee posted Wed, 07 March 2007 at 1:21 PM

Ebay is the first place the police look for stolen goods. We had tack thieves in our area, and the police found some of the stolen saddles on Ebay.

Tiari posted Thu, 08 March 2007 at 7:57 PM

Ebay in and of itself is not bad........ its some of the idiots that use it.  I can't believe this dude is selling guides to making gold on warcraft.  I happen to play that, and the secret is....... dun dun dun, "farm for items that sell for a lot".  Rediculous.

And selling an "erotic" image for a penny to view?  Didn't those lil penny peeps go out in the 1920's? ROFL.  This guy is a peice of work.

MGDesign posted Fri, 09 March 2007 at 12:32 AM

@pjz99: just a little, that guys is either completely nuts or realy smart : ( (not to talk about the ones that buy something from him)

Yes I noticed the WoW gold guide too, I am a player as well, and it bugs me to see such things.
Gold smell so much better when earned the hard way =") smell her ingame pixels
I will check today (need to run to the office now) if that weirdo is still running these sales, I so hope not...
