I downloaded Bryce 6 which took forever, with stalls and stops and all. But I now have 9 stuffed files. I unstuffed them but don't know what to do with them. I opened up "setup" and it appeared to be the installer so I ran it like an install. Next I opened up the one named "presets 1", surprise! It also seemed to reinstall the whole thing including Daz (whatever that is). What am I misunderstanding here? Where are the instructions. I will pay for the lousy cd next time. I am into this for about 8 hours of frustration at the moment.
Bryce 6 seems to open but there are no materials available as in preset terrain, metals, water, etc.
I just drive my Mac, I am not gifted with the geek gene.
Thanks gang,

There is an entire thread under Bryce Talk on Daz Studio forum. There is an explanation of what to install in which order and depending if you are upgrading from and older version or not.
I understand the Argument on Daz studios part for making the files split like that, to make it easier for people even on Dial-Up to download. I mean even yourself and stalls and stops trying to download such a large thing.
But this type of thing is very confusing to many. What they should do is include a small installer program which you download into the same folder as the rest of the files and execute. It than run the other ones in the order it should.
Honestly whenever you ask end users to do more than 1 or 2 steps to install a piece of software you are asking for big trouble.
Installation should be made easier.

I thought that my email from Daz said to make sure to download the installer but I don't recall seeing one.

The problem is significant enough that they have
Before installing Bryce 6.1 Topic....

Starting reading the first 2 pages and you will get a sense of how many people out there are confused about how to install this thing.
Its not that difficult, but than again not everyone is Technically savvy as some of us.

Yes, but there are issues with installing in a different folder and over writing an existing installation.
It is all documented in the link I provided.

Ok, you can be right here but what many people tend to forget about are those that are new to the bryce/daz scene and also may not be completely up to scratch with the daz installers.
Another thing that many people seem to forget when explaining something is they explain it in the way they know how to do things, great for those that have been on computers and have installed programs manytimes before.
Simple way of dealing with this is to sit and explain something as if you were new yourself..
As for Daz, well they are more than a joke..i laugh at how the staff there tell someone how to do something yet they tend to forget they might be speaking to someone that is new to the 3d programs or english isn't their main language.

I have opinions of my own -- strong
opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

To Analog X and all the Bryce folk out there.
Thank you, after rooting through the DAZ forum I was able to load it all. I just had to ignore the constant stream of alert messages and keep loading the files, one after the other in the order that they were in on the DAZ download site. Zowee! It works!
Thank you all again.
