Beware Cardinal The Bryster!! He lurks around corners, watching for heretics, waiting with "comfy chair" and mountains of throw pillows!! Nice work though Mugsey. Wings is addictive isn't it?
alexclark posted Mon, 12 March 2007 at 1:52 PM
Thats a very nice "sky car / fighter / whatever" you've got there! I've been spending much quality time with Wings lately myself - it can do fantastic things, and its free, which is brilliant value for money!

MWA HA HA HA HHAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!
By the way - I'll go ahead and keep workin on some stuff and that'll be free to.
I am trying to figure out how to do vehicles with opening doors and detailed interiors and such so that imported DAZ / POSER figures can be placed in and around them in Bryce - and I need to find out how to ungroup them ( or be able to) in or out of Bryce in order to apply mats / textures to multiple parts of them.

Waaah. Thats extreme. I know Bryce can be great but for times when you've got an idea you can't quite realise in Bryce...
danamo posted Wed, 14 March 2007 at 2:24 PM
Thank you Mugsey and Uncle,(you don't mind if I call you Uncle,do you?) I do believe that you can build practically anything in Bryce, including this mansion, using Booleans, lattice/terrains and metaballs, but it might take a horrendous amount of polys(file size) and time and give you a wireframe almost guaranteed to make you cross your eyes and give you a headache, lol. I don't have Bryce 6 yet though and I think being able to to convert booleaned primitives might make that much less of an issue! I used Wings for this because it was faster, at least for me, and the mesh ended up being less than 60,000 polys. I still think that Bryce is the easiest and fastest app out there for importing, texturing, and lighting your models. I love Carrara too, but Bryce beats it hands-down in quickness for setting up an effective scene, plus Bryce has many more mapping modes.
