I came across a disk that I thought I had lost. I had a bunch of WIPs on it that I never finished due to computer spring cleaning.
I thought if might be fun to post some of our OLD UNFINISHED WIPs. It might give us a needed laugh or it might even give some that are having an artistic block some ideas.
Oh and give a reason why you never finished it,

Laughs with Infinity10. I won't do one of myself. No need to scare the children off.
Looks like everybody but a couple of us finish every WIP or are to chicken to post or as Sealtm2, to naughty. Though don't let nudity stop you from posting as long as it is within the TOS.

Heh, same here. Most of mine involve penetration, flagellation, strangulation, and many other four syllable words much worse than the four-letter ones.
I wouldn't post one of myself, but I've been trying unsuccessfully to morph a model to look like this:
I haven't even gotten the face part right yet, but this already gives me nightmares of the hair room.

My unfinished WIPs tend to eb that way because rendering them causes Poser to brain fart and stall and I just end up deleting them instead of keeping them. No terrible finsihed pieces that have never seen the light of day I ahve on DVD by the shedload..........lol

ooo, goody. it'll feel so much better to get these out.... pardon, but these have been bugging me a long time. if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
kobaltkween posted Sun, 18 March 2007 at 7:23 AM
so if anyone has suggestions on clothes- good way to drape, conforming clothes that do lying down well, painted clothing tutorial, or even just, "she's more welcoming naked", i'd appreciate it.
the other big problem is background. i'm just not sure what should lie beyond the pavillion. any suggestions? or is this even worth pursuing?

cute! i like the mood of that pic. what more did you want to do to it?
KarenJ posted Sun, 18 March 2007 at 8:00 AM
Well, the materials needed work - specifically, the glasses and bottle. The hair needed something, too.
I guess I really stopped working on it because it reminded me of sad times... He may have been a player, but I still missed him.
Actually, looking back now, I am quite impressed with how I got Mike 2 to look so different to his normal square-jawed shape!

Cool some brave souls.
DokEnkephalin. Have you tried the P4 hair that comes included in all versions of poser. Using the grouping tool and spawning props, you could make something close to that style.
Greywolf Starkiller. Have had that happen to me too. I may finish the one I posted if I can find all the runtimes that all the pieces are in. I also have better modeling skills to make it work better.
cobaltdream. Are the pants inflated before or after render. If after then turn smoothing off of the clothes. If not, 1. try raising the figure into the air and run the clothroom sim with only the female figure as collision. 2. do the same as 1 but include collision to the chaise as well and drop the female figure down say at frame 15/20 using the +key frame to start the lowering of the figure to 40 frams, but keep the figure just above the chaise so there is room between the chaise and figure for the cloth to do it's thing. the more frames you use the better the look. 3. do the same as 1 and if you have P7 use the morph brush to make the chaise side of the clothes to look like they are drapped on the chaise. Just some suggestions off the top of my head.
As for the back ground, maybe a stone rail at the edge of the floor. That would give it a balcony look and then you could use a sky image. Match the incoming light color with the sky.
karen1573. Has a great mood to it. Reminds me of someone I used to know a long time ago. With all the new materials and lights that poser has, it wouldn't be hard to redo things.
Well, I hope others will post to this thread. Gives us a little look behind the scenes kind of thingy.
kobaltkween posted Sun, 18 March 2007 at 6:04 PM
hmmm. so you think just sky would do? i was thinking of it as placed on the ground, but sort of unspecifically on high works.
i think i'll play with painting some clothes on her. i don't have p7, or the morph brush would definitely be my choice.
this one was heavy metal inspired, and really just bombed. i think it proves i probably shouldn't do pure cheesecake. i've tried postworking it a few times (as can be seen on the right), and it's just never been any good. the background shows up great, and i like the luminescent quality to the skin, but that's about it. if anybody thinks they could do more with it, they can have the original (which is 2400 x 2400).
Tashar59 posted Sun, 18 March 2007 at 6:21 PM
Yeah there are draw backs to the clothroom but it works over all. my point about floating the figure just above the chaise is to give the clothroom some room to work. It does not like intersecting polies, gets down right mean about them. Magnets could do the rest. An old trick I learned in 2001/2002 is to add a magnet to the chaise but parent it to the figure. so when you set her down the magnet deforms the chaise and it looks natural.
No Matter what others will have you believe, Magnets are your friends. They work well as afixer for the clothroom too.
I'm not very good whith cheesecake images myself, though I do try sometimes. I think the one that are good use more PS than anything else.
kobaltkween posted Sun, 18 March 2007 at 7:42 PM
right, i've made a few different conforming outfits dynamic. didn't work so well with the clothes in the first image, but.... the thing is that i really want the clothes to collide with the chaise. as to the magnets.... well, that would be great if her butt was the right shape. but bent like that, it bubbles out badly. and besides, i hate the floating look so much, i'm not sure magnets would help. even in areas that were just close, i had problems with dynamics. i might try magnets, though. but i'm leaning toward painted clothes, if i return to it at all. i'd like to learn to paint them, and this is kind of a perfect situation. i have an idea of the outfit design and how i'd like them to look.
that said, i haven't even touched on the hero. and i'm not sure i like the roles.
i don't mind postwork. in fact i find it highly enjoyable. i just couldn't seem to get anywhere with the postwork on that pinup. just nowhere. i give up on it.

When I get modeler block, typically about halfway through a project I tend to start something new. It is a I tend to start something new. It is LOT more fun starting stuff than it is finishing it!
My next set at DAZ has been under construction for about two years though, so I do finish some of the old ones. ;-)

Is this your interpretation of a "Dune" Ornothopter? If so, this is FAR more in keeping with the descriptions Frank Herbert wrote than the two film adaptations (David Lynch's theatrical and the ScFi Channel mini-series).

Nelson's Dream Village Motel, a Route 66 landmark. The cottages look
OK in this render, but they're badly built (messy vertices all over the place)
and need to be redone for proper use.
