Reyes is trying to intimidate and sue Phil Cooke for infringement on their patent. This is very serious situation as if nothing is done about it, it will snowball and affect pretty much all modellers and content providers in regards to the creation of clothing. Here is a link with the details http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2689692 Also on Phil's site in the forums www.philc.net Jean-Luc

I'm all in favor of a boycott, now. I'm loathe to take such extreme actions, but this just irritates me beyond normal sensabilities. This is just a rehash of R.I.'s previous chest-pounding noise. To my perceptions, Reyes seems like a bully dedicated to picking a fight, without regard to the truth or justice of the claim.
I am saddened to want to boycott R.I and all and any of their products. I am beyond understanding with them. I find their claims to be without merit after close reading and giving them the benefit of the doubt. I find it appalling to see R.I. at it again. His true colors are finally revealed, IMO.
He is acting like a bully. I still hope he's just gravely misinformed, and being given really bad advice by his advisors and he'll wake up and see the truth of his claims one day. My hope of such an outcome is flagging to nothing. A persons actions defines his being.
At this time ,I fully support Phil Cooke's stand and am behind him fully. I took a while coming to this conclusion, because I had tons of information to review, and had to judge the claims pro and con about the source material. I take great care in judging the merits of both side in any action before making a value judgement.
I will be paying close attention to the proceedings with great interest. At this point, I may never purchase anything from Reyes Infographica, and fully support a boycott of their products and services. If a protest of some kind is organized--POST IT HERE.
Petitions, actions, and notifications need to be centralized here, so everyone involved (ie, all poser users, or most CGI apps using human figures) can find them and respond to them
I have no money, but would be able to put my name on documents representing my distaste for R.I's actions at any time. I am very displeased with R.I's actions to date.

I know who PhilC is, but who the heck IS Reyes Infographia? Frankly, before this thread, I'd never even heard of him or them.

They are the people that originanated the 'Virtual Fashion' program and module for E-frontier's Poser software. IMO, VF doesn't work as advertised and I deleted it off my hard-drive. I used the Demo only and it was not good. Also it is a Windows program utility ONLY. R.I. does NOT support any other OS. If you have a Mac, you are SOL with VF.
I don't have a Mac, but I have no prejudice against anyone who does. If they don't want to support another customer base, that's just another strike against them, in my book.

Sounds like another windmill for me to joist. When I finish joisting DAZ and UTC with my Posette V3 and Dork M3 and P4 Girl Aiko3 and P4 Boy whatever, THEN I'll set my sights on Reyes and freres.

Apparently, Reyes does not have a patent. bB

I'm optimistic about the situation. phil has had the entire week-end to plan his next moves. if e-frontier can be involved in some way, so much the better. the part about the spanish patent was a surprise, as we thought they were still in the "patent pending" stage there.
JOELGLAINE posted Sun, 18 March 2007 at 4:18 PM
The Spanish patent doesn't have the weight of EU law behind it, though, even if they have one. International law is a complicated and FUBARed thing of huge status. The Spanish patent may not stand up under EU scrutiny!

Maybe those of us who BOUGHT VF 1.0 should Sue Reyes for our money back considering just how poorly the imported clothing works, or rather doesn't work, when brought into Poser! Most of it has to be run through another modeling program to be cleaned up for Poser before it really works right. And before anyone tells me that the new version works better, I have to say after spending what I felt was too much for version 1.0 I wasn't about to spend the overly expensive upgrade price to the new version only to find out how poorly it worked as well! Burn me once, shame on Reyes, burn me twice, Shame on me!

Hammer 'em! Scream, shout and carry on. Demand your money back, if it stinks. The squeeky wheel gets greased. If the program, or plugin stinks--you deserve to get some kind of satisfaction, even if it's just to complain in Mister Reyes ear. Life IS too short to put up with ANY crappy products! Poser, VF or what ever. Too many people are making crappy products and get away with them because they think the whole of human-kind is to numb to crap to even notice.
