Farmer Giles and a couple of the lads have been out about celebeerating (hic) Darks Anvils 1st Birthday.

Unfortunately they've had a little too much scrumpy. left the gate open and and now some of the sheep have gone MIA.

We've looked everywhere, even the cows are pitching in. So if you can help us find the little bleaters by searching through the store, there'll be an instant reward for you.

Remember sheep (and the rewards) do move around quickly, so grab them when you can.

WTF is this I hear you say - Very simply it's Dark Anvil's first birthday this weekend, so from
Dark Anvil, Vanishing Point and Sparkyworld we'd like to say a big thanks to everyone for supporting us.

So we're having a little fun contest and giving some stuff away for free. Yep, real products nothing cutdown, these are the full montys.

OK -heres the rules. Really simple like me :)

1- At various times and days over this week, a free product will be hidden on a random page, find a sheep in the act of escaping and click it. The freebie and page may not be there for long so grab it when you can.

  1. Any product that is given away at that time has the real product page flagged, so you can't buy it accidentally.

  2. Please don't ask for freebies if you miss it it will come back again later in the week.
If you miss out totally we're sorry but the products will be on sale again after the contest at the same affordable prices.

4. The IMPORTANT BIT Please play fair, don't be a baaaaaaadie, and don't post or the links here, or share the links and files, or the little beasties may get rounded up very quickly.

Finally watch the site for some other cool, and possibly even more free stuff later in the week.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

mrsparky posted Mon, 19 March 2007 at 10:43 PM

Heres tonight escapee - one Douglas Baaaaaaaader.

Oh and one other thing the sheep jokes will get even worse over the week :)

Question.  Will each day be announced or do we have to just keep checking back at random?

Ditto on Acadia's question -  will every new escaping sheep be announced somewhere or we just have to go back and check often ?

*A combination of both - some stuff will be some won't.
All stuff will stay up for 24-48 hours to be fair to everyone.

And here I was thinking I was pretty much the only one who remembered Bader.  Boy do I feel Sheepish now..

mrsparky posted Tue, 20 March 2007 at 2:12 PM

*thinking I was pretty much the only one who remembered Bader

*Nope :)

Around here the memory of the real Douglas Bader is kept very much alive, theres a pub named after him near what was RAF Tangmere - and he's remembered in detail at the local aviation musuem.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

Helgard posted Tue, 20 March 2007 at 10:01 PM

Bader is one of my personal heroes, and a story I tell anyone who comes up with a "poor me, what a hard life I had" sob story.

Quote; “Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you can't do this or that. That's nonsense. Make up your mind, you'll never use crutches or a stick, then have a go at everything. Go to school, join in all the games you can. Go anywhere you want to. But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible.”

Quote; "Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools."

And one of my favourite chivalry stories of WWII:

Bader was captured by German forces, who treated him with great respect. General Adolf Galland, a German flying ace, notified the British of his damaged leg and offered them safe passage to drop off a replacement. The British responded on 19 August 1941 with the 'Leg Operation'- an RAF bomber was allowed to drop a new prosthetic leg by parachute to St Omer, a Luftwaffe base in occupied France

Heres another one...

This time we have Euan,  word on the farmyard is he slipped the cows a few quid in return for the oxy-cutting torch.

The last confirmed sighting was while robbing the local Midland Bank, unconfirmed reports mention hiding in dense undergrowth. Thats a clue :)

As above hunt the Dark Anvil site for todays freebie and remember this guy is one dangerous maamaa so let's be carefull out be there :)

...just click on the picture to download todays freebie.

*I did find one free item... with no link.
*If you mean this competition ? then yes theres one free item at a time.

If you mean freebies generally  - then there are two currently avaliable. The gallows and the Heroine

*is that it? *
No offence meant here Khai, but what more would you like ?

Edited to add:  sometimes a firewall will block a small picture. zone alarm does here, view the source code  and you'll see the link.

no I mean the item that says it's free for a few days, is that it? as in, is that the item in question? or am I not seeing the item I should be seeing at all?

mrsparky posted Wed, 21 March 2007 at 9:27 PM

You've got me confused now :)

It's simple.

To stop anyone from buying a model by accident.
The page for the model that is free for that day (or 2) tells you how to get a copy if you are willing to play the game and where the instructions are.

It also gives you a clue as to what you will get if you continue hunting.
If the freebie was on the actual product page it wouldn't be so much fun for the treasure hunter.

After this contest the 'free' models will be put back into the store.

Thank you for the hint! I was under the impression that they were only in the product section. Thanks for the great prizes, only got 3 but they are great!

A big thanks to everyone for taking part however all good things must come to an end, and the giveaway is...

**NOW OVER
**
...apologys to those who missed anything - but these things are still in store.

As for the sheep - well we're big softies really and they've been pardoned. However theres no promising they'll stay in their pens so keep your eyes open :)
