So I ask you:
Comments are welcome!!!!

Time moves on... P4 Woman beget V1 and the rest is history.
Some of us were smart enough to save all those goodies from P3 & P4. A lot of it was pure genius by those people.
Right after V4 was released, I noticed there were very few V3 products. Just like when V2 products vanished when V3 came out. This time I went hunting for V3 stuff and bought all the things I could find.

First off please visit Posette Forever.
Secondly, it's called progress. The reason you do not see a lot of free items for Posette or the Dork is because Poser has advanced with new characters and content. The same can be said of the first Mike and Victoria little content can be found for them also.
However, there are websites that still have free items for Posette and the Dork it's just a matter of doing a little investigative work and poking around. I am sure others will see this post and can post links to sites with the poser 4 default people. I will take a look around myself and see what I can post as well.
Cheers!

I hear you Brother!! Check out my post here in the Poser forum, and the UV Mapper forum, and follow my efforts to remap Posette to V3 Texture standards. This will ultimately mean that you can render Posette with V3 skin and texture shaders. Dork is next on my list.
As for DAZ and progress, most of those who insists on such appologetics usually have a financial intrest and/or investment to protect and justify.

Poser has changed, and how. i believe it was originally designed simpl as a tool to pose the human figure in a 3D scene... the artwork came later. Now poser is expected to do pretty much all of the work, aiming for evermore realism until eventually a poser rendered figure will be indes... indis... bugrit... just the same as a photograph. Great if that is what you want, personally i prefer the slightly 'unreal' feel of a painting. The image is a concept, a feeling, brought to life and designed to make the viewer 'feel' something other than 'wow that's so life-like'. I suppose, eventually i'll have to retire my bug-free, stable, fast, simple to use Poser 4 for the 'latest thing' simply because i can no longer get things to use.
And that's my point (sorry for the ramble) P4 does what i want it to do and as long as things are available for it, i'll buy them. I don't want to be forced to buy something with all the bells and whistles just to do something i have been happy doing for years. The market is always racing ahead trying to catch up with the latest half baked version of Poser but leaving behind a huge base of potential buyers.

Oh do I agree with that:) Back to the OP... You migh want to check the MP for Firemonkey's Fedian, the style might be useable for you, it's for P4 male and female.
I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

If Posette and Dork aren't in demand, then look to the artists. They set the figure market. What ever figure has the least amount of "postworking" will get their work out quicker and cleaner.

I'm a pro 3d artist (not because I'm the best here but just because i sell my artworks in the professional market).
I'm not a nostalgic, I know that the time moves on, and I use every kind of software (old or brand new) media to achive my goals... but I hate to go out for shopping using an aircarrier.
Somtime sophisticated Poser models are also unuseful in order to achive the artistic result that I want.
In the case of my Viper pilots, Posette and Dork was perfectly fitted for the roles.
So i still want to use Posette and Dork when they are useful. When they are not I use different (moderne?) "poser people".
But I don't want to be never be able to use "old people" again just because they, their textures, props, accessories, hairs and so on are disappeared.
Anyway, where is all the old P4 stuff???
Is it pemantely deleted from servers worldwide???
And YES, I agree with dphoadley!
most of those who insists on such apologetics (read as "new is always better") usually have a financial intrest protect and justify.

Quote - What I find most useful is using my own models.
I totally agree with you, but I must produce artworks very quicky, and I have too much time to develope my own models.
Anyway if you can do all by yourself is better and fun! :)

Where did you find the flight Jacket for Dork? All I ever was able to get in my own library was Posette's version. The site it came from I no longer even remember. I also find the pants and belts you used to be amazing. Where did they come from?
As for your question? People just stop paying for hosting after a while. The Internet has lost nearly all of the old and FREE webhosting sites. The few that do remain rely on advertising and the generosity of the folks who pay the server space and bandwidth bills. It would be amazing to me to find one archive of all that went before, but the work involved in collecting all that old stuff and finding a home for it is mind boggling in and of itself!
Imagine the work involved in just finding and contacting all the original creators of the freebies and getting permission to redistribute them all! Yikes!

duo, I just answered your email. I think that form you received must be because you clicked the link indicating you were under 13 years of age.

relatively simple one, this.
Like Sydney - not much stuff for her because she looks like she's been in a horrific cheek-pulling accident. Generally artists vote with their feet - you can't expect something as fickle as the internet to be a relentless archive for all things, because it's a network of humans and humans move on. Generally.

I don't understand why the older figures have been dumped you know..
they are still very useful for background figures. for the 'cost' of one V4 how many Possettes can you render in the background?
Dajadues posted Mon, 26 March 2007 at 11:22 AM
I use the old figures all the time just that P4 figs don't have morphs and you can't make them talk or else I'd have no need for Daz figures at all. The high poly count is brutal on my computer. I am slowly moving away from Vickie & Mike. I did notice the V3 free stuff is slowing down some. V4 is ok but still too high poly for animation.
You think finding stuff for P4 figs is bad, try finding free stuff for Don & Judy, especially, conforming cloths & hair!!! I like Judy the most. She is easy to work with and nice low poly. Such a shame these figures have no freebie provider support.

Hey Duo! Check your PM's! I sent you a message about the Spindrift. Where is your free version located? I'd like to compare it side by side with the one I just bought!.
