My only part was in porting it to Mac - please thank Thomas for all of the hard work in providing this neato app! :)
I was just thinking that this would be great for Poser when doing things like old ruins or old trees.
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.

I noticed that to avoid massive sizes keep the growth away from flat horizontal surfaces. The ivies will grow very fast and very dense.

Oh wow! Thank you! I have been trying to work on an image with columns and I wanted ivy growth on them but haven't been able to manage it without it looking cheesy. This could be the answer to my problem.

This looks really cool! But I can't even get started...when I try to import an .obj nothing happens. The screen remains blank. I've tried with several different .obj files and it's the same every time. Nothing imports.
I've looked in the ReadMe and the FAQ's but can't find any help with this problem. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? :(

Your .obj is here, just under your eyes. You have to zoom out with the cam.
Don't know why, but this program tend to load object in giant size. All is blank is your obj. :)

The objects you import have to be triangulated (quads or polys won't work)

PoseRay can be used to triangulate the input mesh. Just export from Poser as wavefront, load into PoseRay and export again as wavefront. The resulting model will be triangulated.good luck,

I've zoomed out, around, up, down...but the obj isn't there, so it must be that they're not triangulated. I'll open up PoseRay and give it a whirl. Thanks!

Anyone know why a lot of the leaves are rendering black? And what's wrong with the ones I've circled? It looks like some kind of transmap problem, but I've double checked and the transmaps are applied correctly. And why is it only happening with some of them?

I already played a bit with it, but came alway with the same problem: when I import an obj, there are a lot of holes inside. Is this because it has not been triangulate ?

i haven't got the program out to play with yet, but based on prevous experience with other products....
some are renderd black because your normals are facing the other direction (where no light is comming from). solution: go to the materials and check the "normals_forward".
the ones you have circled look as though there is a specular setting. if there is nothing plugged into specular color then plug your trans map image into it. if there is something plugged in there use a blender to add the trans map image to it so that it is black around the leaf.

can't speak for the other side, but the OS X version (ivygen 1.2) imported the model that I exported from poser, without any intermediate steps. it took a while to load, and required zooming and rotating round to get it set right, mind you.

I'd try 1.3 as Thomas has added an automatic 'frame object' after import. Much nicer than zooming and rotating trying to find the object. :)
