The recent change to gallery main page presentation - I'm not especially interested in seeing the same 9 images occupy 2/3 of the page for the entire day. I'm sure lots of people love it and are super shiny happy about it - it ought to be an editable option.

I have to agree. I understand it's made this way for reasons, but I would so love it if I could see a full page of new images instead. So much has changed here and having the front page of the galleries without the most whatever would make it feel more like the old rendo I came to love being at. Yes, I know I can click browse and get what I want. Call me lazy or whatever. I'd just like it back to where it was. It was much more enjoyable to me.

o.k., they changed it. somebody see if all the top-rated images are by members of the "critique club". if so, give them their due. so let it be written, so let it be done.

This isn't really related to the recent critique business, I would ask the same question even if that hadn't happened.

If you click the "galleries" link then the "Whats New" right away you don't have to look at anything on that landing page. I don't see that its that big a deal to just not scroll down but hit the Whats new as soon as you land?
You don't have an editable option with what page you land on when clicking the forum button so not sure why the galleries should be any different.
Just my 2 cents:)

**Stacey,
Actually you do have an option to what forums are listed when you click on the Forums link. You get to edit that in the My Options list. Right now when I click on the Forum link, I only see the forums I want to see.
It's not so much a "big deal" to most I imagine, but when you have severe joint pain and your hand is numb most times, well, yeah...it becomes a "big deal" to have to click more to get where you want to be. Shoot, typing this is rather difficult at the moment. I have to keep stopping and shaking my hand to get enough feeling in it to even type. Much less correct all the typos it causes. grin**
StaceyG posted Tue, 27 March 2007 at 12:39 PM
I wasn't referring to what specific forums you want to see but rather the actual "landing" page you hit which is ALWAYS the forum index regardless of what forums you have visible.
Sorry about your pain, I know that is hard:( You know I always wish you MORE good days, heehee
Unicornst posted Tue, 27 March 2007 at 1:18 PM
**Okay. I get that. But at the same time, I think what pjz99 is asking for is the option to not have those showing the same way you can choose to not have, say...the Photo Forum, showing when you click on the link forum.
I know you do, Stacey. Just some days, it takes a lot longer to get the numbness gone than others and this is one of those days. The pain is easier to put up with, believe it or not. When it's numb, it's so difficult to tell exactly what I am clicking on (cause I can't feel the mouse button), typing, and forget being able to do any chopping and cutting on my job. Makes my boss nervous when I can't hold the knife that well. LOL**

Okay, if you roll back that change then I wouldn't have to do that - what's the big deal with rolling back that change or adding this feature?
I'm not stupid, I know I can click link X or Y, I'm annoyed that this change is forced on me and there's no way to select how the gallery shows itself to me. I'm sure it took a great deal more effort to put this change in place than it would take to add an option to the gallery options page to allow the old view if one prefers that.
StaceyG posted Tue, 27 March 2007 at 8:02 PM
This was a new page we added when we converted. We let members know some things would change with the conversion and new galleries, this was one of them.
We had to take it away for a bit until the new thumbnail nudity policy was put into place. Alot of members were upset when we had to take it away because they liked the new Todays Top page..
You can suggest this option in the suggestion forum. We will add it to the list and discuss it. Not sure if it will be implemented or not but you certainly can suggest that option.
StaceyG posted Tue, 27 March 2007 at 8:11 PM
Oh and forgot to add
I didn't say you must be "stupid", not even close. I was just pointing out how easy it is to avoid looking at something you dont' want to look at.
This is the first complaint we have had about landing on that gallery page, so it just seems odd to me that its that big of a deal to just immediately click the Whats New so I was pointing out the ease of avoiding.
pjz99 posted Tue, 27 March 2007 at 10:39 PM
I hate to presume to advise you on customer servive skills, but when someone brings a polite concern to you and explains their point of view, "What's the big deal?" is a terribly unprofessional response.
I will post this in the suggestions forum then.

So...you are buying something from the "Free" Gallery?

pjz99 posted Tue, 27 March 2007 at 11:17 PM
No, but Rendo does have about $450 of mine, so I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for something once in a long while.
Hawkfyr posted Tue, 27 March 2007 at 11:27 PM
Maybe $452.00 would make it "Not a Big deal".

Quote - Okay...So if they have $451.00 of mine...and I request the alternate, they should consider fulfilling my request over your request?
Actually, this shows perfectly why it should be an editable option - your preferences are just as valid and important as mine, and why should either of us have to compromise? It's not a complicated change I'm asking for, particuarly since 99% of the work is already done - I strongly doubt that all copies of the old gallery format's page php have been deleted.
