Question: If you use the Heirarchy Editor to switch off the visability of body parts to avoid poke through (for example; you put a body suit on a figure), will Poser still render shadow maps for those parts? If you select say, a single body part, and select "Properties" from the Menu, a dialog box appears about that part which let's you uncheck the "Visible" and "Casts Shadow". So I was wondering if you changed the visability using the Heirarchy Editor, does the editor also turn off the 'casts shadow' for that part?

Switched off objects are completly ignored by the render engine.

its an easy experiment , put a figure in and a prop square , set a light to cast a shadow on the square turn visibility for say the chest and see what shadow you get .

ADP is correct, it is sufficent to turn off visability, you don't need to turn of Casts Shadow as well.
