I used the ivy_generator to generate the ivy in this picture When I set my shadows to Ray Trace the top picture is rendered When it is set to Depth Map the bottom picture is rendered. I have always rendered with the Depth Map and some of the other plants I use come out the same way. By looking at he pictures, can anyone tell me what I is going on? I am using Poser V6 with all the SR's installed Thank you

Have you tried changing your mapsize? When your shadowmap is too small it may be too coarse to make accurate shadows. When I look at your settings, I see that in the ray-trace settings the blurradius is 0 and in the depthmapsettings it is 2.0 depthmapshadows are blurry by default. When you have a lot of small close objects giving shadows (like a plant) blurry shadows tend to overlap which results in darker shadows. For a crisp image it's better too use Ray-tracing, but you can first try to change the size of the shadowmap in the parametersettings.

Thank you Bopperthijs for answering me, I tried your suggestion, but it did'nt work.
Looking at the material room, I checked the Normals and it worked fine then
Thank you again

How big did you make the shadowmap? I would expect that you would need a value about 4096 for the shadows to get sharp.
