Her bust is just too unnatural, and I don't like the way her shins attache to her legs BEHIND the kanee, instead of beneath them. No, Posette and Duke are the teh BEST. Long live the Queen and her Consort!

The only part of teh process I dread is the feet. The hands are awfull, but the feet are a real horror. They've never been mapped, and so I first have to seperate them into two planar surfaces, but then search out all the bits of facets that didn't seperate properly. It's a real PITA, and not the kind that I eat with Humus.

Just an idea... can you cut off the feet, make some temporary groups as markers and try spherical maping or something that opens up the mesh more and then reattach and de-group them to do the final mapping?
Can you make a template zoomed in on the foot only and map a foot only object to it then retatch the foot and scale it down to the standard map?
Just random ideas from a know nothing :)

I'm not sure. My conservative nature baulks somewhat at so radical approach, for fear that it MIGHT ruin all that I have done(yes, I know, save as a NEW file first). My remapping of Posette was once set back three hours (work lost), because my anti-virus decided to do an in-depth scan just at the moment that I was saving my work. The pait blistered on my walls from my heartfelt curses in three languages: English, Hebrew, & Arabic.
Lukily I had a previous day's version saved in a seperate folder, but to redo three hours of work generally takes three more hours. Usually what I do is hide all other material groups, and then do a Planar-split to the feet, and then spend the next week and a half stitching them back together, but on a flat plane instead. This is slow, tedious, and irksome; but effective. DPH

I understand wanting to smooth a brow for a female character (V4 syndrome?), but for men, imho, this is a mistake. They need a good manly browbone and brow!
Besides, won't smoothing (aka spreading) the brow mess up your UVs?
How about this, when I'm done with the morph, I'll make an alt version with spread-out smoothed eyebrows that way people will have an option of which version to use?

Bb, knock yourself out! I been using Blacksmith for about 6 months. No problems!

To facilitate the process, I did as I said earlier, save a template of the UV material Zone, and then opened it in Photoshop. There I selected the 'Good' half, copied it, and pasted it as a new layer. This layer I then fliped horizontally, and then lined up its vertices with the with the bottom half, so that they made two parts of a whole. I then merdged the layers and resaved the template.
This now makes it easier to remap the right half of the body, and insures that both halves wil mirror each other (mor e or less -there are ALWAYS minor differences when manual labor is involved). By the end of the week, I should have both halves of Duke's torso remapped. Then onto the head.

Progress is slower on this model for several reasons. Duke's muscles are sculpted, rather than morphed, which requires special care. Also, after finishing Posette, I'm a bit fatigued, and am simply working at a much slower pace. Also, I've been distracted by visiting daughters and grandchildren (for which I praise G-d, and consider myself blessed), and also some other projects such as Posette's Catsuit, and Indoda's dress.

Send me an email, and I'll send you a copy of what I've got so far, and you can check it out for yourself. I find that the smooth eyebrows tends to make a mishmash of the eyebrows, in that while smoothing them laterally, they condense them longitudinally. I'm thinking that a transmapped UpperEyebrow prop such as I borrowed from Aprish for my PosetteV3 wil work better.
Nothing is absolutely perfect with any of the 3D figures, and not all textures are equal either, but perhaps with a bit more tweaking things can be improved. In the meantime, I'm going to start today on the lashes and eyes.

My remaped P4 male figure (P4DukeM3), with a scene from my homeland Israel in DAZ Cyclorama.
The face is the Duke morph is by BastBlack for the P4NudeMan (available here in Freestuff).
The skin texture is the Heike for Michael 3 by XTX. It used to be available here in freestuff, but the link has gone dead. Maybe somebody can fix it, because this is a very good texture.
Hair is from Kozaburo.
The loincloth is a leapard texture applaid to P4DukeM3's now remapped alternate hip. (I've given it, its own material zone, so that one can use it in a more natural way than before, for those more decorous renders, and without having to do major surgery to the texture maps).
The knife is a Questor freebie available in Daz's freestuff.
I've really gotten to like this figure, since I've worked so hard on him
Yours truly,
David P. Hoadley

I think Dork has great bends and is very adaptable, I can't wait to try him with some good textures.
LostinSpaceman posted Mon, 11 June 2007 at 12:26 PM
I can't believe nobody has ever given his alternate hip zone a separate materail zone before now! That's fantastic David and Thanks! Now to see if I have any decent M3 Textures to play with.....

The aternative hip zone is also remapped to M3's hip texture, so that it can also be used as traditionally without creating a seam in the figure (something that often haqppened to the old Dork.
I'm now busy remapping V4.1's left foot.

Have you released him? Is he in the freebies?

I'm in the process of submitting him. I've sent the files to Victoria_Lee to host on her server, and I'm waiting fot confirmation that they are ready for download. Then I'll register them in the Freebie section.
Check your email, you might have already recieved a copy from me directly. I sent out copies to all my PosetteV3 testers.

David, before releasing him publically, you might want to remove all the detached texture nodes calling for the textures that people may or may not have. It's causing serious lag for me switching to any material zone that has one of these detached nodes, not just because they're detached but because they're forcing poser to search for textures I don't own.

Ok second thing I noticed is that even though he's mapped for M3 Textures, he doesn't accept those textures via any of my standard M3 MAT Poses. You have to hand load all the textures.
The MAT Poses I have load the SkinHead texture and then create all of M3's Skin Material Zone names which don't affect the figure. Slightly annoying but I can work with it. I understand the unique names for unique material zones like alt-hip, but couldn't the names for standard body parts like SkinTorso etcetra been used so MAT files would work to a better degree of accuracy?
Hope you don't mind the nitpicks. They aren't given to offend you. I'm just pointing out shortfalls in the idea/design of the Duke remapping that could be improved upon.
dphoadley posted Mon, 11 June 2007 at 4:40 PM
There are considerations of EULA that I don't wish to engage. Since I;ve always only hand loaded all of my figures, I really don't consider it to be that arduious a task. Very rarely have I used a figure that was MAT posable.
